I think the only option you have right now is twonkyvision. It runs on my Linksys NSLU2 but I do believe they have one for the one u have.

I believe that some people are running mt-daapd on a linkstation. On my NSLU2, it is great - it just works.

I've got a 120GB Linkstation also.

You can run
mt-daapd (iTunes)
Slimserver
Twonkyvision

I fooled around a bit with Slimserver but couldn't ever get it to work right with the Soundbridge. I was using 5.4 at the time. I switched to mt-daapd and it works like a charm - version 0.2.1.1

Check the files section of the Linkstation_general yahoo groups. There is a setup guide for mt-daapd for the Linkstation.

Twonky isn't free so I didn't even try it....

O.K all, thanks so far. I have got Twonkyvision Mediaserver, I want to run it on my Linkstation(250G).

Now then, consider me an extreme 'newbie'. I believe I need to gain root access to LS and so I am following this guide that I find simple enough:

http://fieldnetworks.com/slim/linkstation2.html

Simple - haha, if only it were that. I have done everything on that page that should allow me to gain access, however I cannot login as root.

Before going into "vi" and altering root password I attempted to make backup of password as described in guide, got the message that permission was denied? Has the CGI file not worked?

I am a little lost and would gratefully receive any suggestions, even a new guide if there is one.

Many thanks

Thanks

Sign up, go to the files section on the left and you'll find a very good guide on how to change the root password after that search for twonkyvision and you will find how to install it.

Got mine installed o.k, just need to configure it to see me files!! (.ini file needs editing???)
