Cannot Play Album on Roku

Sun Jul 12, 2009 6:49 am

I have an album called Shady Grove. I ripped it and it plays fine on my PC. The Roku finds the album but will only play the last song. I have the Roku version 3.044 and have had no problems with any other albums. I have tried:

1. Total reboot of Roku, network, computer
2. Removing the album and re-ripping
3. Doing a complete scan of the Music Library on Windows MP.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Just a thought: Are the ID Tags all set correctly?

Forgive my ignorance what are ID Tags and how to I set them. I just checked the directory and ensured that permissions were set to be able to read/write the directory

Each mp3 file has a 'hidden' ID tag which stores information such as Artist, Album, Genre etc. The Soundbridge finds it's information from the tag, not from the filename.

When you rip your CD to an mp3 format, it is important to have this tag information the same for each track. Otherwise, it doesn't show up correctly on the Soundbridge.

'Mp3Tag' is a free program for editing the ID tags. You can download it here:

I have found that WMP ripping has a habit of leaving tracks incorrectly tagged and labelled, so check for albums/artists and files starting with "Unknown...".

Yep that sounds right. I finally got it working. I removed the files. Then removed the Album from the WMP interface. Then rebuild the DB. then rebooted then re-ripped. That was the only order that worked. I tried each of the above and many combinations.
