Re: Soundbridge M500/M1000/M1001/M2000 power issues

Mon Oct 17, 2011 3:51 pm

It appears as though Roku has ran out of stock and stopped selling replacement adapters for the m500/m1000/m2000 models. I have updated the original post to reflect this change. I will be updating with compatible replacements and where to find them in the US as I come across options.

If anyone knows of locations to get replacements in the US, please let me know and I will update the original post.

Here's another power supply I found for the M1001for $10 incl shipping at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XFFHBM. Its 5 volt, 2 amp, and the plug even fits. Thanks for all the info about power supplies. When my Soundbridge stopped working, thanks to the forums, I tested the original power supply and it produced 5 volts with no load, but only 4 volts when loaded by the soundbridge, and I guess that wasn't enough. This item branded "Fairway" from the vendor "DirectDeals4U" on Amazon has worked fine for the two days that I have had it installed so far.

I just bought this one as Tiga recommended off Amazon.com - $10 delivered. Should be here in a few days. It's UL listed so should be safe.

So this unit arrived and it works well - As Tiga said you do not need to cut and splice the barrel connector.

I have a Soundbridge badged M1000 with an internal power supply.

Like many on here my power supply died. Fortunately I found an electician who lives 5 minutes away from my home who fixed it for me.

I live nr Crawley, West Sussex in the UK and if anyone has a problem getting their radios fixed, if you PM me, I can give you his contact details. He charges a very reasonable £35 to fix it.

The power supply for my M1000 is blown! Does anyone have a definitive answer for the question of where to get a new one? I tried a supply from Radio Shack but the form-factor did not allow for my audio out plugs to plug in.

My music player has been out of commission for 3 months! Please help...

Are you certain that what you have is an M1000 and not one of the mislabeled m1001s? If the connections are on the back you have one of the mislabeled m1000s.

No, it's definitely an M1000. I need a 9.2V power supply...

Not sure where the .2 comes from. The M1000 supply is 9 volts, but the internal design is happy with more than that, so 9 or 12 volts at 1.5 amps would be safe. The unit has its own internal regulation for all of the electronics. You can use a supply capable of more amps (the unit will only take what it actually needs), but I would not recommend a supply of lower current capability.

Does anyone know where I can find a new power supply for the M2000 in the US?

Either of these should work... (but I am sure there are many others)

http://search.digikey.com/us/en/product ... ND/2384486

http://search.digikey.com/us/en/product ... ND/2635782

The main thing is that the M2000 supply must be 24 volts, must be able to provide at least 0.7 amps (the rating of the original supply) and it must have the center contact positive in the plug.

It worked! Used the first link (2384486); PSAA20R-240 Wall Adapter R Series, with the 993-1054-ND Clip for U.S.; :D great to have my M2000 back up and running. Thanks S80_UK!

S80_UK,

Thank you, I have added those links into the original posts as options for the M2000 in the US.

You're welcome. I still lurk around here occasionally, but too there's much else going on to spend as much time here as I used to.

Cheers,

Les.

FYI

The following supply also works perfectly with the M1001.

https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/store ... tId=210894

They have a number of different voltage and amperage options and were cheaper than the Amazon ones are now (including shipping).

Mine just bit the dust after 5 years or so. I tried the link in the previous post to order a new power adapter, but the page must have been moved. Here's a link from Jameco to a compatible adapter: https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/store ... _210894_-1. If that doesn't work, try searching for manufacturer number SYS1193-1005-W2 at www.Jameco.com. It's $12 plus USPS shipping rates.
