Hello all,
Dutch radio station 3FM changes it's internet stream from shoutcast to icecast.
The published the URL's on their website (will past them below) but none of them will work on my Pinnacle SoundBridge.
Is this a soundbridge issue???
3FM AAC - broad band http://livestreams.omroep.nl/npo/aac/3fm-bb.pls 64kbps
3FM AAC - small band http://livestreams.omroep.nl/npo/aac/3fm-sb.pls 32kbps
3FM MP3 http://livestreams.omroep.nl/npo/mp3/3fm-bb.pls 192kbps

welcome to the forums.
I can confirm that all five URLs for 3FM don't work on a Soundbridge. This clearly is a SoundBridge issue as my Reciva based radios and my Frontier SIlicon based radio as well as the software players XMPlay, VLC, Winamp, MediaMonkey, iTunes, WMP12 and StickRadio play them flawlessly.
The reason is that, as I already explained some time ago in this thread, the audio URLs of 3FM and all other NPO stations are redirected to stream URLs which the SoundBridge can't handle.
All you can do to resolve this issue is contact the stations and ask for streams that are compatible with the SoundBridge.

I am also a Dutch listener to the Radio 1 = 6 stations and i am receiving the same fault.
I emailed the organisation and this was there response:
Translated it means that the NPO organisation cannot broadcast it in shoutcast in a reliable way and they are very sorry to disappoint a relative small number of users with an out of date streamer (e.g. Soundbrigde users).
I see a couple of possibilities,
1) Roku is going to fix this issue, make icestreams possible.
2) Other Dutch users gather here and make themselves known to have a problem with this, the more the better and let the Dutch radiostation know this is a problem.
3) Selling the M1001 and moving on to something new (last choice, since generally , i like the soundbridge very much as a streaming device)

Uw toestel kan vermoedelijk niet goed omgaan met onze nieuwe manier van streamen. Dit probleem speelt met enkele apparaten waarvan bij ons bekend is dat de support door de leverancier al enige tijd stopgezet is. We kunnen met deze nieuwe vorm van streamen een sterk toenemende groep online luisteraars tegen beperkte extra kosten bedienen en de betrouwbaarheid neemt daarbij bovendien toe. Dit gaat helaas ten koste van de ondersteuning voor een kleine groep gebruikers. We hopen op uw begrip hiervoor.

The same for me here in Holland. No longer 3FM but also the other public broadcasting from Hilversum. So that`s why we pay "kijk en luistergeld". They just say: your M1001 is outdated, so buy a newer and you can listen to our streams. I`m really pised off

BTW #1: The problem with NPO's stations is not the use of Icecast servers (there are thousands of stations using these), the special kind of redirection and the style of the URLs make the SoundBridges fall over.

BTW #2: The WMA streams come from a Windows Media Server, not from an Icecast server.
I strongly doubt that Dutch radio officials monitor these forums, complaining by email might be more effective.
There are workarounds that will bring incompatible streams to your SoundBridge, but they require a PC as a "go-between".

I wonder , what is the workaround then ? Does the PC have to be turned on constantly then ? (That would not be practical, because then one would not need a soundbridge at all )

Any piece of software that is capable of streaming audio from the PC to the SoundBridge, for example (attention, advert!) StickRadio.
Unfortunately it has to, as the software on the PC must send the audio to the SoundBridge over the local network.
For people either running the PC all day long or using it as a media server that wouldn't be annoying, but for all others it might be a nuisance.

Since I cannot run the above mentioned StickRadio on my linux box, I started playing with this issue.
I don't consider this a very good solution, though my setup does the job for now.
I forward the output of the stream-grabber icecream to the stdin of ezstream, which on its turn streams to the icecast-server.
When I point my Roku SB device to the icecast server it streams the url http://livestreams.omroep.nl/npo/mp3/3fm-bb.pls, which I grab with the earlier mentioned icecream software perfectly. The only down-turn is that icecream dumps a file from the stream http://livestreams.omroep.nl/npo/mp3/3fm-bb.pls to the filestore.
Since most NAS devices are based linux, this might work on them as well.
Now, I can imagine that this method is not for the faint hearted, so I don't go into details here.
However, this webpage might give you a good clue.

Still playing a bit around with my linux box, and tried to come up with a better solution then before.
I still used the icecast server as a base. Configuration is straight forward, and I think you can leave most of the configuration as they are.
Then I installed mpd. Here I left most of the configuration as they were. The only things I did was to uncomment/ajust following part:
Now it is possible to add the radio station to mpd. The weird thing is, that you have to add the first http url in the pls file to make things work.
So download the pls file with: wget http://livestreams.omroep.nl/npo/mp3/3fm-bb.pls
Check the content, and copy the first url. Add that url with the command: mpc add http://ics2ess.omroep.nl:80/3fm-bb.mp3? ... &stream=ok.
Play the url with command: mpc play
On the Roku soundbridge you can add something like the following url: http://<IP-address icecast/mpd process>:8000/stream
This is not as elegant as connecting direct to the 3fm url, but at least it works.
On top of that, mpd has a wide range of clients.

We are currently trying to modify the IceCst playlist url in such a way that it is compatible with the Roku/Pinnacle Soundbridge.
The "old" Shoutcast streams will remain active until such a time.

I don't have a Soundbridge (and I don't know anything about it), but maybe the following is a bit of help for you:
With the Dreambox webradio player I found out, that it can't handle the stream URLs in this format:
While playing around with that URL I discovered, that the player has problems with the "&" sign. So I changed the "&" into "&" and - voila - my Dreambox player can connect to the stream and plays it flawlessly.
I am now using this URL to listen to 3FM icecast stream:
Again - I don't know if this works for the Soundbridge as well. But maybe its worth to try out.
