M2000 running software version 2.7.78...

Thu Dec 27, 2012 10:47 am

Is there any compelling reason NOT to upgrade to version 3.0.44?

I never got around to updating the firmware on the unit, partly due to the 'if it ain't broken then don't mess with it' chain of thought & partly because it was (and stil is) used with DTS recordings off my server & I think I was concerned about the upsampling issues that arose with the introduction of the M1001s - back then, I wasn't sure if this was a firmware thing that may have ended up affecting the M2000 as well. Digging back through the forum posts, am I right in concluding that this was specifically a hardware change implemented just for the M1001/R1000 lines?

No, there isn't. However, if the new features and bug fixes listed in this thread are of little or no importance to you it's also safe to stay on 2.7.78.

Yes, you're right.

Thanks Dupondt.

Just verified for myself that DTS multi-channel works with the newer software (although I had to remember to set the M2000 volume back to 100% before my receiver would decode - thought I'd messed up for a moment...).

Cheers, Limeybrit.
