Hi fm.72. I'm a bit tied up today with domestic stuff but I'll take a look at this tomorrow and give you some feedback. Looks really interesting.

Just another update online. User input (IP addresses, filename, mode) will be saved for next program invocation upon successful operation.

EDIT: Download link deleted, see below! Download location unchanged:

Hi Felix,

Backup to a file works fine but I can't get the sync to work. I see the popup telling me that everything is successful but the presets on the target haven't been updated. What info do you need to debug? FYI - my default browser is Firefox 2.0.

Great work otherwise though. This version is much slicker.

Thanks,
rich

Hi Rich,

thanks for your feedback. I'll send you the url for a test version via pm... Admittedly, the sync portion of the program is not as heavily tested as the back-up portion.

Regarding browsers: My default browser is Firefox 2.0 as well. SB-sync calls Internet Explorer, shame on me, but it only starts the browser in the background, without a visible window. As I'm on Win2k, I used IE6 SP2 in my tests. Did you upgrade to IE7?

Hi everybody,

if you encounter the same symptoms as richdunlop: SB-sync reporting successful update of target presets when sync'ing, when in reality they didn't change, here's what richdunlop found out was preventing from SB-sync to work correctly. Open 'advanced' options in Internet Explorer and check the setting 'Allow active content to run in files on My Computer' is set to 'on'. That'll do the trick.

I assume this (only) affects XP (& up) users. In W2k this option doesn't exist.

Efficient and easy-to-use UI. Works like a charm, after the mod to IE. Thanks!

After the problem seems to be sorted out, I'm preparing for a real release version complete with an installer (and of course an uninstaller, although I can't imagine why one could possibly want to uninstall this  ), which will also contain an informational message about the IE setting "problem".

Thank you all for testing and reporting!

Feel free to contact me about any problems or feature suggestions...

Regards,
Felix

thanks for the program.

i was able to successfully do a back-up. but syncing did not work. before i read about the ie mod, i stumbled onto another solution. i first changed the name of the resulting back-up file to reflect the ip of the target roku. then i changed the back-up file by opening it in a text editor, searching for the old ip and changing the ip to the target roku's, saved it, closed out, opened it in firefox and hit the "update presets" button at the bottom for good measure.

worked like a charm.

Hi rem,

the way you helped yourself out is what I suggested to do when using my very first version (called SoundBridge-backup). But as I wanted to automate the whole process, I developed SB-sync, which with the change to the IE setting does all that for you automatically.

BTW: You wrote you hit the "update presets" button. That shouldn't have been necessary. The back-up file is modified in order to "autosubmit" upon opening in your browser...

Felix

Now SB-sync comes with an installer, allowing you to remove the program and settings completely.

Download from http://www.justmytwocents.de/SB-sync/SB-syncSetup.exe

While a user interface is nice, a simple approach (that will work on any platform) is to view the presets you want to transfer in your web browser, and then in the browser's address bar, type:

javascript:document.forms[0].action="http://<new-IP>"+document.forms[0].action

Replace <new-IP> with the IP address of the SoundBridge to which you want to transfer the presets. Hit return to activate the JavaScript, then click the form's submit button.

The above JavaScript will redirect the web form to the SoundBridge located at <new-IP>. As with the other solutions, this will only work for URL presets.
