Do you know of a great internet radio station that works well with the SoundBridge? Post it here. Please post the Name, genre and SoundBridge-compatible URL.

Thank you Patrick for starting this thread. I was about to suggest having it's own forum with different genres as separate threads.

As you know, some popular links (Club977) have had a few problems lately which I think Roku is looking into. This will be a great place to post working links.

Most people know about Club977 the 80's channel but they also have Club977 The Hitz for when us oldies need to know what's popular right now. Memorizing it from Itunes does not seem to work right now but the Shoutcast link is fine.

http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast ... lename.pls

So there it is, the first of hopefully many posts.

Can we expect to see song info or WM streams soon? I check daily anticipating another firmware upgrade.

Keep up the excellent work RokuTeam.

Internet Radio

Mon Jan 31, 2005 10:02 am

I have 2 stations to add, from Virgin Radio in the UK, These 2 are in addition to Virgin Radio UK. More info : http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation ... index.html

Below are the URL's to enter directly into iTunes or SB Radio favorites in your browser.

Virgin Classic Rock (Slightly Retro Rock) http://vruk.ic.llnwd.net/stream/vruk_vc_hi

Virgin Soul Groove (Retro Soul and Disco) http://vruk.ic.llnwd.net/stream/vruk_gr_hi

Excellent sound quality, professional, and commercial free.

More radio

Mon Jan 31, 2005 10:13 am

Here are a couple that work very well with SB. Both would be considered Gothic, but I would call them "accessible" Gothic (i.e. not Industrial or EBM).

Radio Twilight
http://62.194.172.227:8000/listen.pls

Gestalt Records
http://69.93.28.60:8005/listen.pls

Jetgirl,

Your Radio Twilight link needs a /listen.pls after the 8000.

Rockola,

Your links don't seem to work for me.

The Virgin classic rock works with

http://www.smgradio.com/core/audio/mp3/ ... rvice=vcbb

OR

http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast ... lename.pls

Same goes for Virgin Groove

http://www.smgradio.com/core/audio/mp3/ ... rvice=grbb

OR

http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast ... lename.pls

Sometimes it is difficult to find the proper link which will almost always have a .pls in there somewhere.

Staging Hi

First off to clarify: these are links that I use on iTunes on my Mac

So the Virgin Info is a start point http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation ... index.html

The other links are to be pasted directly into Mac iTunes/advanced/open stream, OR, directly into SB's Favourite Radio Stations via your browser.

These links are for 128kbps bit rate whereas, your links relate to 32kbps streams.

Unless of course I'm missing something? Please let me know. I've also edited my previous post to try and make it clearer.

Hope that helps.

Hi Rockola,

I will check this when I get home, I don't have a SB at the office yet. Maybe the Mac treats the links a bit different. I have to admit I am not that much of a Machead.

However, if you look at the Virgin Radio link:

http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation ... reams.html

which shows detailed stream info and look at the Itunes links for your stations, you will find that they say it is broadband (128K). You are correct that when you open the stream in Itunes it reports it at 32K so I'm not sure what is happening there.

If I go to your Virgin starting point

http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation ... index.html

and click on any of the listen now links it forces WMP to open a stream at 20K ??

I guess cutting and pasting is the way to go for now. Thanks for your input Rockola. The learning curve is certainly higher when there is not a consistent format to the stream links.

Melissa,

The easiest way to add a radio station to the Soundbridge is to go to the link you use to connect to an Internet radio station and right-click your mouse. If you are running Internet Explorer there will be an option called "Copy Shortcut". If you are running Firefox, there will be an option called "Copy Link Location". Select this option. Then go to the Internet Radio page for your Soundbridge and paste the copied link into one of the 10 spots for station favorites. You could also paste the link into iTunes and use that to play it on your Soundbridge. Hope this helps.

I just found this small but awesome radio called rinfm.com. They've been streaming since 1999 and it sounds terrific.
I just added the link to my SB favorites.

It appears to use Windows Media. The SOundBridge doesn't (yet) support Windows Media Internet Radio.

Though I am disappointed about the fact that I cannot (yet) play that particular station I must applaud you guys at Roku for a great product and a flower well managed forum site (with the best response rate I have ever seen)!
