Met opera broadcast

Sat Mar 04, 2006 1:05 pm

Does anyone know of stations that stream the Saturday Met opera broadcasts? My local station WNPR does, but at a low bit rate (32k or less). That URL is http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/wnpr/ppr/wnpr.m3u . If you know of any others, share it!

I did a quick search and came up with this site which may interest you

http://www.operacast.com

It has links to global opera internet radio streams with times and bit rates. It has this page

http://www.operacast.com/met2005.htm

which details stations doing met broadcasts in 2005. KAMU streams at a high rate MP3 here that plays on my SB Radio:

Or if you're running 2.5 beta software try:

http://www.nrk.no/dynasx?p_lenke_id=493 ... wmext=.asx

which is a 170kbps WMA stream from Norway (it may not work as well in the US as it does here in the UK). It sounds really spectacular!

Thanks! That opera page is a great resource. I've been playing that Norwegian station on my computer and it is terrific.

go to the met opera website, to the listen tab and search for a station by location. We listen to the chicago NPR station and it is crystal clear
