Working XM Radio Streaming

Thu May 18, 2006 10:05 am

I found a way to stream XM Radio to my SB without using any server on my PC.

1) Get the latest 2.5 beta software on your SB
2) Set a internet radio preset to:

http://www.xstreamxm.com/mobile/stream. ... rpassword& chan=20&speed=high

*be sure to enter your email address, password, and channel # in the URL*

Well, I can testify that it works great on my M1001! I'm listening to Ngoma right now. I can listen to most of the channels on my satellite receiver, but this is a great way to get the "Internet exclusive" channels. No PAD data (song titles); all it says in the name of the channel, but as a friend of mine would say, this discovery is HUGE!

BTW --Whois says the domain xstreamxm.com is run by Ziggy, who is the owner of http://myradiostore.us so its not officially run by XM. I think we owe a big thanks to his generousity and for his never ending devotion to "All things XM".

great - it worked for my M2000 ... now I'm just a little concerned with putting my password on a 3rd party web server for xm ... but it sounds great !

I trust Ziggy (and Ed Keefe, who probably runs the actual server) not to rip me off. They also run the popular XM forum: http://www.xm411.com/phpbb/index.php

This is so much better than using the Slimserver. Anyone know how it works?

You need the "space" in the URL; type it exactly as above.

It works on my M1001 without the space, but of course, you do need a to insert your personal email and password that have been registered with XMRO. Also, substitute the channel number of your choice, but it must be one of those on the XMRO list. http://xmro.xmradio.com gives general details about how the service works (using their player).

bump

I'm still wondering if anyone knows how this works? I was wanting to write my own server so I could pass the song and title info to the SB.

You could load up slimserver and the 3rd party XM Plugin. Look how it works and how it gets song info from the web sites as it is playing (it is not part of the stream) - and then write your own server.
