You may notice the decoder fail and then you need to reboot if the mysql connection goes away. The mediamvp project has this issue too. It can happen if mythroku has been on a while and you start a second recording some time later. I plan to look at that this weekend. The seek table is none existent and FF or RW then gives a seg fault and there are no commercial breaks where there should be. As I am aware of it that probably makes it a feature not a bug!

fast forward crashes

Sat Apr 26, 2008 10:35 pm

Jim,

I've been away for over a month - yet another power supply failure. I've been trying to play catchup with your enhancements. Whenever I press the fast forward key I get a complete crash. I have to go the the whole reset procedure - seems to wipe out the whole system.

The effect seems a little drastic for one key press - especially one that others haven't reported.

I'm running firmware v 36 on a rev A.

Thanks again for all of your good work.

I plan to upload a new version tonight with a bunch of little fixes and some new screen designs. Your problem is caused by a failure to connect to your mysql database. When you rebooted and restarted the app, did the problem go away? I hope to have fixed that - it appears that the connection sometimes goes away if left open. If no seektable is read it should now default to the 30sec and 3min FF, otherwise FF should be a true FF ,and so no graceless failure of the application should occur on FF/RW. If the connection goes away then the comm skip won't work too. Usually restarting the app takes care of it. Now I open and close the database connection before each query which I hope will fix this issue. This problem as been noted by the mvpmc folks too.

0.82i fixes a number of bugs and has some new images and a much nicer layout of the tv guide and upcoming recordings/search pages, so regrab the Themes.zip too and unpack.
Enjoy

Jim - Once again great enhancements. Love the new look of the program guide.
I have two questions.

1> Is there a way to chane the program times from 24hr clock to 12hr clock. The wife really has a difficult time with the conversion. Those of us who have some sort of military background have no problem.

2> What table are you reading to get the channel number? My high def channels have totally different number than they have in mythtv.

Thanks for you great work.

1. is easy, I will add an input parameter that be read from mythroku.roku

2. the hd channel numbers for me in mythtv show as 4.1, 6.1, 8.2 etc
How do yours show? I believe when I configured mythtv I chose the option of separared by a period or something like that. Give me an example of how myth shows your tv channel number versus how you see in in mythroku. I may need you to shoiw me the output of a mysql command too we'll see.

I will try to look into these matters this weekend.
I plan to add the hd symbol to the guide for programs in hd and to add the number of stars too.

Thanks Jim

This is a portion of my channels table:

"3058","58","58","3","E","E! Entertainment Television","","0","","10989","0","32768","32768","32768","32768","Default","0","1","","0","32767","0","","0","58","0","0000-00-00 00:00:00","","-1"
"2945","804","90","2","FoxHD","FoxHD","","0","","46021","0","32768","32768","32768","32768","Default","0","1","","0","4","3","","0","0","0","2008-04-28 20:00:03","","-1"
"2701","803","100","2","NBC-HD","NBC-HD","","0","","45165","0","32768","32768","32768","32768","ATSC","0","1","","0","5","2","","0","7","1","2008-05-01 21:01:02","","-1"
"3301","801","101","2","ABC-HD","ABC-HD","","0","","30594","0","32768","32768","32768","32768","ATSC","0","1","","0","6","3","","0","13","1","2008-05-01 20:00:03","","-1"
"3302","805","114","2","PBS-HD","PBS-HD","none","0","","35387","0","32768","32768","32768","32768","NTSC","0","1","","0","14","3","","0","0","0","0000-00-00 00:00:00","","-1"

Note that the HD chanels are Qam channels. The second field is what show in Myth ie "803" is NBC-HD and shows as channel 803 - in Mythroku it shows as channel 70.1. Channle "804" is Fox-HD and shows in myth as 804 but shows in myth Roku as channel 945.

You appear to be displaying the field "chanID" in the guide - could you not display the "channum" field ?

Thanks for taking a look.

it sorts on the 1st field chanid which is something like 1000 on up for tuner 1 and 2000 for tuner 2 etc. I have my digital cable on 1 and an ota hd feed through my hd homerun on tuner2 and they are things like 6.1 etc. That is why I sorted on the chanid which was an integer. Did you have other ideas, it would easy to add a flag to sort differently.

Jim it seems to sort in the following way.

A channel number is defiined as a four digit number with the first digit being the source number. For example a channel number such as 3045 appears to be built in the following way by myth the '3' appears to be the sourceid number and the remaing three numbers would represent the 3 digit channel number (045 = channel 45).

I have three sources:

Source 1 is OTA
Source 2 is Cable(SD)
Source 3 is Digital Cable and is for the QAM Channels

My guide is in three distinct parts as a result.

Thanks for all of your work. Anyway to display channel icons in the guide ? Ha - Just in case you are looking for something else to do.

I never could get channel icons into mythtv so I dont have them on my regular frontend's guide. It wouldn't be hard to display them in mythroku, its just hard for me to code/test without having any myself. I may be able tofigure
something out on that though,

Yes, things are sorted per yior post tuner 1, then tuner 2, then tuner 2. I guess in myth they can also sorted by pure cannel number so
4, 4,1, 6, 6,1, 8 etc
this is achievable by sorting by channum, I am sorting by chanid currently. . I will add a flag to mythroku, rokuand repost the code later on.

Jim : I am trying to find the font color selection settings and the overlay graphic that you use for the upcoming recordings and search page. They don't seem to be in the same locations as the other graphics and text-font-color control settings ?

Help !

release for myth.21+fixes

Sun May 04, 2008 6:44 pm

Jim,

I recently got myth 0.21+fixes compiled on my Thecus n2100 ARM NAS box and apparently it uses protocol 40.

When trying to use Mythroku .82i, I get a protocol mismatch as Myth 0.21 apparently uses protocol 40. Whenever mythroku tries to play a saved recording, it says it cannot open the file.

I have tried to revert back to myth 0.20 and cannot get it to compile on my ARM processor.

Do you have plans to go to protocol 40? Is there anything I can do? Should this work?

Thanks,
John
