Is there a third party ap that will allow streaming of BBC Radio programs to PB?

Yes. Run SlimServer on your desktop and then install the AlienBBC plugin to get your BBC stations. Run SlimRoku on the PB and all is well with the world.

Works great.

Thanks for that. I've installed AlienBBC and it shows up and works fine on the Slimserver, but I can't get it to show up on Slim Roku. Do I have to do something to make this happen?

It probably won't show up in the Internet Radio menus that The Endless wrote into the software. You'll have to navigate the SlimServer menus at the top.

Also, make sure that you have Alien BBC enabled as a menu item for the SlimRoku player in the player configuration settings on the SlimServer web page.

Jon,

OK have got it running (sort of) by making the various stations into a playlist, but they only run a few seconds before they terminate.

I ended up installing AlienBBC because there are some files in it that are needed on the Mac for transcoding WAV files. I wanted to transcode WAV files because I wanted to use SlimRoku to tune XM Radio streams. I was having a similar problem to you. There are a couple of things to try:

1.) Transcode the RTSP and WAV streams in AlienBBC to FLAC instead of MP3. I had all sorts of problems with getting the MP3 transcode to play correctly on SlimRoku. It would work fine on my Soundbridges but not on the HD1000. I installed Soaif's FLAC codec from the Sonica website.

2.) Increase the amount of data buffered in SlimServer.

3.) Take 2 asprin and call me in the morning! :D

Jon,

FLAC didn't work for me. Maybe the difference between a PC and a Mac?
The system is now working pretty well, though, with just a few minor squawks. I must have just hit a bad transmission period.

Platform shouldn't have any difference as the HD1000 is what is running the software. The only difference could be in SlimServer but I doubt it. In SlimServer's config page you have to go into the "File Types" section of the server config and check the box that says you want to transcode RTSP and Windows Media files to FLAC.

Also, did you instal Sonica and run it first before installing FLAC? You have to do that as well. Kind of a pain, but that's what you need to do...

Audio is great after doing all that...

Its sonata, the inbuilt music player, you have to use at least once before installing any codec - not Sonica.

Does Sonata need to be run? I copied the FLAC codecs into the Slimserver bin, ticked the file conversions in SlimServer, and everything appeared to run in properly according to the SlimServer notices.

Did you run the FLAC installer software? It's not just a matter of copying it into the SlimServer bin. You need to run the installer on the Photobridge.
