SlimRoku with NAS drives

Wed Feb 28, 2007 11:14 pm

I'm looking for a NAS drive that can utilize SlimServer/SlimRoku etc. Does anyone have experience with the LaCie drives, or can anybody recommend anyhting else? Price is a problem, so Infrant is not really an option!

Best one that I've seen is Thecus 5200 series. Great for Slimroku and MPlay as it is a server, will run Slimserver and dont need a PC runnung. However if price is a problem then this might be out of reach.
Have used Dlink DNS-300 (cheaper option) for some time but require your PC to run Slimserver.

Thecus- 5xHDD + 2xUSB HDD
Dlink- 1xHDD + 2xUSB HDD

Hope that helps some...

Thanks. I'd not come across these before, and they look interesting. Do you know if the 2100 series would work, as it's a much cheaper option?

Hi,

I have never tried Slimroku but I have a slimserver running on a Linksys (CISCO) NLSU2 with unslung firmware. Definitely a cheap way to run a slimserver on a NAS, not very fast though.

By the way, the same NLSU2 also holds a Twonky UPNP-server, wich really works like a charm.

Thanks, I'll look into it if my HD1000 decides to start working again!
