PS3

Most recent PS3 update turns console into a media player which works OK with WMP 11 and great with Nero Media Home. Just need to merge each burned dvd's numerous .vob's into 1 file to have uninterupted play.

Yes, the 1.8 firmware upgrade is just LOADED with new capability. DLNA compatible now, DVD upscaling to 720p/1080i/1080p, more BlueTooth capabilities, more Remote Play capabilities for those also owning a PSP, etc.

I will assume you have one. I'm still trying to figure out HOW to get MPEG-2 Transport Stream files that play awesome on the PhotoBridge to play on the PS3, without running them through some conversion to MP4/AVC/AAC/etc.??? Any ideas? I've tried renaming to MPG, MPEG, M2T, M2V, etc. and no luck. Prowled some web sites and no luck. From the specs it seems it is capable of this, yet I haven't figured out how???

Pisses me off Sony only supports FAT32 on external USB drives. 4GB limitation sucks.

I use a PC with XP as a server and have had success with ORB, WMP11 and Nero 7 without having to convert any files. WMP11 has some issues (i.e. staying connected, etc) with video files but Nero Media Home is great for streaming .vob files which should work with MPEG-2. Only problem with .vob files is I now need to merge each burned movie into 1 file to get uninterupted play. Downloaded vob merge which worked great but have an issue selecting the main movie from all the other crap vob files (i.e. trailers). Hope you have success! Oh yeah also heard that Tversity and twonky work with the PS3.

I tried out the latest Linux Twonky and it works, sorta. BUT, I don't want some server software, I would want a capability such as we have with a native PhotoBridge running MPlay.
I'm trying to determine how to get pre-existing MPEG-2 TS files that play gorgeously on a PhotoBridge to somehow play at all (without conversion or transcoding) on a PS3.
