LiveTV problems

Sat Dec 01, 2007 4:03 pm

Okay this is a section of the mythroku log when I try to view LiveTV (I always get a file open failed no matter which tuner I select). The backend sees it as starting and stopping liveTV within 1 second from the log timestamps. It does create a small file, so the tuner is opening, but for some reason mythroku is having a problem and closes the connection.

This is usually caused by the delay in setting up livetv. I'll see what can be done.

Firmware 35

Sun Dec 02, 2007 8:38 am

I am having simular problems with the install as newlinux, and I noticed he got 81l working after setting the firmware back to 2.0.35.

How do I do this. I have used the automatic firmware upgrade feature on the roku, so I am not sure what firmware version I am runing. How do I determine the firmware version, where do I find 2.0.35 and how do I down grade it?

I am also having problems removing the password from the mythtv user in the mysql database. I read all the documation I could find at the mysql site, but I could not find how to spcifically remove the password from a user.

I did install the mysql GUI and was able to change the mythtv user password by replacing the current password with nothing. I was then able to run testdbase once. But that corupted the dbase. had to set the password back and run mysqlcheck to recover the database.

Any suggestions on both subjects.

You can go into setup and look at system information or something similar to see the firmware version. It should also be at the top of the screen.

2.0.35 is at: http://www.rokulabs.com/developers/2.0.35/formatup.rok

Just put this file in the root directory of your compact flash card and reboot your PB and wait. That should load the firmware.

If deleting the mythtv password isn't working for you try the first set of instructions (creating a test user from a distinct IP with no password).

It was clear to me that the problems I was having were do to corupt firmware. Instead of going back to 2.0.35, I reinstalled 2.0.36.

Then I set mythtv to have no pass word. all my other front ends work with the no password mythtv user.

I then telneted into the roku and did a mysqltest with a mythtv user and that also worked, so I am able to talk to the database.

BUT.

When I mythroku.roku I I get the following:

bash: ./mythroku.roku: No such file or directory

when I do a ll the file is there with a+rwx privilages.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!

Can you run mythroku.roku from the PB interface instead of commandline? That error indicates it isn't in the directory you are currently located in. Are you sure you are in the right directory when you run that commandline? What are the other contents of that directory?

I noticed some problems in the past when I edited the mythroku.roku file on a windows pc. Never could really figure out why. Can you recreate it using vi either on the roku or on a linux box and put it in your share. Then try again. BTW It should start #! on the 1st line.

Windows uses \r (0x0d) for end of line and (l)unix uses \n (0x0a). you should be able to fix it with "tr '\r' '\n' < infile > outfile".
