Viper: How to get export to pick correct file

Mon Aug 01, 2005 6:36 pm

I almost have Viper figured out. the only missing thing is to get the export command to generate the correct file= argument

Facts:

I have it set to use Mplay
My movies are in their own folders: ie Stripes is in a folder called Stripes
My files are split at 1gb and are named VTS_01_.VOB, etc

When I select a cover image I get the file not found error. Looking in the OUT file I see a line that says file=... Stripes.ifo I do not have a file named that. How can I make it input the correct file name without manually editing every entry in the allMyMovies html file?

Viper isn't set up to export the filename correctly in your situation. I've added it to my todo list.

Hey colonelsnow,

Here is how I have All My Movies set up. I think with a slight modification it will work for you. In the Media info tab, I set the Location to be "/tmp/Volumes/glower-movies" or "/tmp/Volumes/glower-hdtv/movies" because those are my 2 locations where I store movies.

My template for AllMyMovies looks like this:
<ul>
   <li>Title=[amm:title]
   <li>Genre=[amm:genre]
   <li>Director=[amm:director]
   <li>Year=[amm:date]
   <li>Actors=[amm:actors]
   <li>Duration=[amm:duration]
   <li>MPAA=[amm:mpaa]
   <li>Resolution=[amm:resolution]
   <li>Media=[amm:media]
   <li>Aspect=[amm:aspectratio]
   <li>Original Title=[amm:origtitle]
   <li>Description=[amm:description]
   <li>Path=[amm:medialocation]
   <li>Filename=[amm:title].mpg
   <li>Imagepath=[amm:medialocation]/[amm:title].pgng
   <li>LargeImagepath=[amm:medialocation]/[amm:title].jgpg
</ul>

As you can see, I use the medialocation to fill in my path and the amm:title to fill in the name of the movie.

As for your situation, If you set the Label box on the Media info tab to the folder where your movies are stored you could use the following template.htm.

<ul>
   <li>Title=[amm:title]
   <li>Genre=[amm:genre]
   <li>Director=[amm:director]
   <li>Year=[amm:date]
   <li>Actors=[amm:actors]
   <li>Duration=[amm:duration]
   <li>MPAA=[amm:mpaa]
   <li>Resolution=[amm:resolution]
   <li>Media=[amm:media]
   <li>Aspect=[amm:aspectratio]
   <li>Original Title=[amm:origtitle]
   <li>Description=[amm:description]
   <li>Path=[amm:medialocation]/[amm:medialabel]
   <li>Filename=VTS_01_.VOB
   <li>Imagepath=[amm:medialocation]/[amm:medialabel]/folder.pgng
   <li>LargeImagepath=[amm:medialocation]/[amm:medialabel]/folder.jgpg
</ul>

I run a macro that replaces the ".pgng" with ".png" and ".jgpg" with ".jpg". I put in the fake extensions because when I used png or jpg it caused funky things to happen in the html file.

By doing things this way I do not have to use the export function because the file paths are already done.

Let me know if you think this will fix your problem or if I can help you out any more.

The 04 version of Viper (out on sourceforge now) fixes this problem
with a -export_vts mode that sets the filepath to the 1st VTS vob file
of the largest filesize set.

Okay, I'm baked, I wasn't sure who had done this but I am killing myself trying to get the DVD profiler XML export to map to the Viper app so that I can get the text and fields right. I think it was Barrygordon that indicated he ahd that working. Can you share any tools that you used to parse the XML export from DVD profiler to appropriate fields for Viper.

OR

Can someone describe how I can simply ignore all text except title with the DVD cover art.

HD any thoughts on the abc box to select titles? just one letter at a time shows up and then it looks to movies with that letter for the title, instead of genre, etc?

Wow I think I'm almost there...just wish it would be that much easier
Thanks!

If someone wants to email me the DVD Profiler export, I'll see about
either providing a tool or incorporating it into Viper.

Search wise, i plan to have search by title, author, and director.

Here's one DVD from DVD Profiler's "Wish List" category. I put one in there so that it would hopefully output a small enough file to include in a message.

All DVD's are between the <Collection> and </Collection> tags with each DVD being wrapped in a set of <DVD> </DVD> tags with other assorted tags for ID, UPC, Title, etc.

If you need something larger PM me and I can send you a (rather large) one with my entire collection.

I haven't played with your program at all yet. I have been very busy, and the last week or so I've been kind of idling, waiting for the next Beta drop. I thought they said two Friday's ago that they almost sent out the next Beta but held if back for some minor adjustments?

Also, DVD Profiler's latest version (at least the registered ver) has a report writer utility. Not sure if we could make something that would easier fit your app with that or not?

Bump...HI HD,

Any progress on the DVD profile export support?

I'd also settle for an ABC scroll on Movie Title alone! :)

Cheers

No...I haven't worked on it yet. If I do anything, it will probably be an xsl transform of somesort.
