Updated: SongInfo: A screen saver that shows what's playing

Mon Oct 24, 2005 11:40 pm

I have just released SongInfo version 0.3 for the 2.0.34+ firmware.
It works with both Sonica and the built-in player (Sonata/Listen).

SongInfo is a screen saver for the PhotoBridge that shows information
on the currently-playing song. The information includes:

* Title
* Artist
* Album
* Time elapsed in track (and total time if using Sonica)

New in this release, when the music player is not running the current
date and time are displayed.

The information is shown as white-on-black text that slides up and
down the screen to prevent burn-in.

Andy,

First let me say that this is a nice application, now for my question. What format do music files need to be in for the "artist" and "album" information to be read? Is there any chance of your application recognizing FLAC file ID tags?

Thanks in advance,

Chewy

I know that it does display the Artist,Album etc. when I'm using Sonica to listen to (FLAC) music. I think its based on the capabilities of the player you're using, Sonica understands FLAC tags, Sonata/Listen isn't able to understand those tags.

I downloaded songinfo .3 to a cf but it doesn't seem to work. I am using 2.36 and sonica .48. Does it work with 2.36? Thanks

It's working fine on my system with 2.0.36 installed. Is it perhaps not configured properly?

Thanks for the reply. Must be on my end then. Are you also running Sonica .48? For installation I just copied the songinfo to cf selected it via the roku and then ran sonica. The clock is the one that is displaying. Is there anything else I missed?

Thanks again.

Bingo. As I recall, I did the same thing when I first set this up (I tend not to read directions :D ). Glad to hear it's working.

Thanks again for the program. It works great now that I read the instructions better. Any plans or possibility for album art to display?

Thanks again.
