First time user - Mplay question

Mon Apr 10, 2006 10:21 am

I just installed Mplay and I see two Mplay applications on the ROKU screen, one just says 'Mplay' and the other says 'MplayDVD'. What's the difference between these two? They both seem to perform the same (I only have one test mpg file to display) . If they are the same, can I remove one of them?

The MPlayDVD version has what's called the "-FixTS" flag enabled, which allows for smoother playback of .vob files (i.e. ripped DVDs) if I'm not mistaken. Personally, I've never noticed a difference between either version playing .vobs, .mpegs, .ts files, you name it...

Some MPEG files do not play right with MPlayDVD.
Some DVDs (.VOB) loose audio at chapter breaks/angle switch with MPlay.
