I would be willing to make a financial contribution to help encourage further development on this app to include more of the MythTV functionality.

Has anyone considered a coder-for-hire type scenario to have the app beefed up. I don't want to devalue the effort people have put into what has already been developed and is being used its just that I too understand the juggling of priorities when it comes to family etc.

Anybody care to help make this happen?

I don't think it is dead, just on a bit of a break. I've been doing some work on it but I haven't sent Elwood any diffs in a while. I spoke to him a couple of months ago and he had sql working which was one of the steps needed for LiveTV and a lot of other features like commercial skipping, more accurate 30 second FF and 10 sec rewind, etc.

Its not dead, just in a deep, deep sleep.

As the arizona temperatures increase, its getting easier to find time to work on this project (indoors, of course!)

So here's the deal. I'm totally converted over to .19, and have playback working "ok". I still get an occasional crash when I delete a file. To support .19, I changed some handling in libcmyth which slowed down some communications with the server, but it seems to be working.

Live tv is broke, but I have a plan to get it working ...

Oh, and I added an option to play back directly from a file if you can mount your recording directory from your frontend.

Brad,
Thanks for everything you have done for the Roku community. Please also fix the "time-shifting" issue for the MythRoku...:)
Regards,

Would love to see your progress and get something working.

thanks for the update and what you've already done. We use mythroku daily to watch recorded programs. I'm sure i can speak for a few of us, let up know if you need testers etc. quick question for curiosity sake, do you use mplay for the player or just the native functionality of the roku?

This could be another approach as well

I grabbed this off the MythTv Devel mailing list.. I may have to setup another Myth server from SVN to try this out on the Roku.

For those not monitoring the commit list -

*I would be interested if someone with an Xbox 360 could test
to see if the music was accessible.  (I know that video through
upnp is not enabled on the xbox).

--------------------
Initial uPnP Support.

** There is a lot of work left to get a totally compliant implementation **

uPnP Clients used for testing:

   D-Link DSM-520
   Denon AVR-4306 (music only)
   Intel uPnP-AV Test Tools.

Support includes:

   - Mini HTTP 1.1 server with large file support and streaming (limited
implementation)
   - SSDP Discovery Service
   - Content Directory Service (extendable)
   - Task Queue (timed based task execution)

Recorded TV & Music (limited views) CDS implementations included

All uPnP & other methods can be accessed via SOAP, Form POST or by REST
(query strings).

I have added a handful of methods that return XML or content using the
http status port:

       /                     Same as getStatusHTML
       xml                   Same as getStatusXML

getStatusHTML         Returns the original HTML Status Page

*** All of the following return XML ***

getStatusXML          Returns the current Status Data
getProgramGuide       Returns a subset of the program listings
getHosts              Returns a list of unique Hosts contained in
the Setting table.
getKeys               Returns a list of unique Keys in the Setting
Table
       getSetting            Returns a Keys value
       putSetting            Sets a Keys Value
       getChannelIcon        Retrieves the channel Icon
getRecorded           Retrieves a list of Recorded Programs
getPreviewImage       Retrieves a recorded programs thumbnail image

*** The following return content (used for uPnP playback ) ***

       getRecording          Retrieves a recorded video
       getMusic              Retrieves a Music Track

Missing uPnP components:

   Connection Manager Service
   Subscriptions & Events (GENA)
