There is a thread on AVS with an initial positive review:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?threadid=731457

We have approx $85 pledged so far to buy one of these for TheEndless. Only 3 more donations are needed! Get your donations in soon! Send me a PM (personal mail).

Just in case anyone at Roku is watching - how about a pledge from the company for this project?

Yeah, I had a grin on my face when I asked for Roku support, but I also think there are some Roku employees/founders who use their HD1Ks and might like HDTV tuner support.

We are now up to ~$120 in pledges! Only two more to go and a HDHomeRun will be flying to TheEndless!

We've stalled out a $95. I'll do two things:

- approach the company selling HDHomeRun and ask for a developers discount (dgburns idea). Here is the thread on the HDHomeRun forum:
http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=10211

- wait until early next week so those who only look at the forums on the weekend have a chance to know about this.

I'll also ask TheEndless if I can post my offer on his forum which is dedicated to SlimRoku and MPlay.

If necessary, I can contribute some as well. The only reason I haven't offered already is because I can't really think of a use for the device in my current set up, but I'm sure that will change once I start working with it...

I've added a new forum for the HDHomeRun client, so feel free to post in it.

The forum topic for HDHomeRun over on the MPlay forum is here:

The developer of HDHomeRun may provide a developer discount for TheEndless. More as things develop.

Yup. That's our point. You could connect this to your incoming cable line (or antenna feed) and with a proper application on the Roku you could "tune" it and watch live TV on your Roku.

Do they allow you to use such language ("live tv") on this forum. Sorry son, but that's just about the dirtiest language imaginable in my Home Theater. ;)

Make the thing record to a networked drive and then play back the recordings, while completely skipping any/all commercials naturally. :)
Playing back delayed while recording would be acceptable as long as you start watching late enough so that you can still skip any/all commercials before catching up to "live".

Since HDHomeRun currenty has MythTV drivers, that route may provide recording and time shifting. Direct Roku support (to stream HDTV) from the HDHomeRun is a simple, no computer, setup that seems to have lots of benifits. Simplicity.

I am waiting for the owner of HDHomeRun to respond. He stated that a developers discount might be offered. Since we've stalled out at ~$95, I'd like to find out if the HDHomeRun folks will make up the difference. My private and public messages have gone unanswered at this point. I continue to check on an (almost) daily basis.

Still no response by the developer of HDHomeRun. Since we don't have enough in donations to buy a unit outright for TheEndless, we are in limbo. I'll give it another week (perhaps the developer of HDHomeRun is very busy).

After I posted on the Silicondust forums, I received an email from jafa asking for an address he could send a development unit to. I responded, but have not heard anything back. That was last Thursday. I'll let you know when I a) receive the unit or b) receive a response from him.
