I get my Internet thru my Cable TV service.The feed cable goes straight into my flat panel,no box.
Will I get ROKU activated if I hook it up thru a HDMI cable,from TV to ROKU box? I have a new HDMI cable in a blister pak.
I don't have a router running and the set-up screen ask me about my router????????

Your roku needs to be hooked up the the internet either through ethernet cable or wirelessly (via wi-fi router).

I'm not sure I completely understand though. How are you getting internet on your computer/laptop?

Both our PCs' are hooked up directly to Suddenlink surfboards.
The big screen tv has Suddenlink cable screwed right into the back of it.
I guess I'll get a router just for this purpose.

I'm not familiar with the surfboard. It could be a router/modem as many ISPs are combining their modem with routers (my Verizon modem is a combo). Do you not have any more Ethernet outputs? You said both your PC and laptop are hooked up to it. My router/modem has 4 outputs.

Surfboards are just a name of cable modems similar to motorolas. Roku has to be wireless or wired to the internet to work.
