Ok, so there used to be lots of people doing this, though with hacks...

So, I just wanted to see if there was a resource where I could read about how to share my desktop on my computer, stream it to my webserver, and let roksbox show the feed on the roku...

I am sure you can do this with VLC for the feed (and I run linux here), but I don't see many posts about people doing it.

You've said that in another page - however, you are wrong. Two clicks, I had my webserver going with folders - less than 10 minutes to read over everything.

Remember, not everyone uses Windows. I'm a big fan of Roksbox and think it is a great piece of code.

Not a lot of info on the site. Reading through the limited doc it appears that it simply shares files.

I would consider Roksbox more in line with a full media experience since it has art and media info support.

its not that simple...coz i use windows and i had issues (still have)...and i was waiting for that registration confirmation email from gabillan to post my issue(am still waiting for it)...might be a good application....but didnt work out for me

I have been using RoksBox for about 6 months, and even though you will need to read the tutorial for setup, the features it offers is great. I would suggest you try Roksbox and the 30 day free trial. If you need help in getting it set up, Im sure there are plenty here that could and would help.

Dont be fooled by the involved set up, it is alot easier than it looks. As with any of these solutions you will need to modify your firewall to allow access, this is where most have an issue, I think.
