XDS CONNECTION PROBLEM

Wed Dec 08, 2010 5:41 pm

Just got XDS unit. Won't connect properly. Have Linksys WRT54GC Broadband G router and Westell DSL unit supplied from internet provider.
I can find the network during setup and have password and system tries but won't connect. Roku support says Linksys needs firmware upgrade. Cisco support (Linksys) says buy a newer router such as E1000 or E3000....Any ideas?? Help??

I would almost have to agree with Cisco. Your router is over 6 years old and wasn't design for streaming HD media in my opinion. I have the same router and I use it primarily as a backup because it could never handle my current bandwidth load. I also have Ver.1.06.1 of the firmware loaded so I would check that at least.

Upgraded to the E3000 earlier this year and no problems.

Try setting it up with a wired connection first. I have the same router but the GS version and its over 5 years old and i have no problems what so ever. You do not need a newer router whoever told you that.

I just received Roku XDS.
Can i use it with Netgear Router MR814 v3 ???

I don't want to go to all the trouble if it won't work. My TV is in a very hard place to get to back of it.
Old TV and must weight 90 pounds.
