Roku XDS worse connection than my old Roku

Thu Dec 23, 2010 8:12 pm

I "upgraded" to the newer XDS, the installation went ok but when I try to watch any content I get a lot of artifacting. I've tried with both a wireless g and n router. When I connect the Ethernet cable the artifacts go away and it works fine. If I use my old original Roku box that I don't think they even sell anymore the wireless works fine. Anyone else have problems with the XDS?

I completely agree! I got a Roku XDS for Christmas and it was seriously sucking! Netflix would barely play on Quality level 2 and I was about ready to return it. On a whim I plugged in a wireless router that I had configures with DD-WRT as a bridge and now everything plays perfectly. Netflix on HD with very little delay. The wireless NIC in the XDS is a piece of crap. Don't buy the XDS just for wireless! I'm still glad I have the XDS because of the USB port though.

I completely agree- gave an XDS for Christmas, singing its praises, and it is so frustratingly BUGGY! Constantly hanging up... not happy.
