For composers, being I dont use this feature, how should the flow go?

Eg: Composers -> Songs or Composers -> Albums -> Songs or some other way

Also, just as a general consensus, who goes to albums straight away, instead of artist->albums etc...

The main issue with syncing is cause by albums and wondering if this really needs to be there, it would make syncing a flower of a lot easier!

Chris,

Two thirds of the time I go to the Album first; always, if the Album has many different Artists.

I also go to Albums first most of the time, and good point about multiple artists on an album.....

I never did get a sync working - took 15 minutes then app just exited! Perhaps on-the-fly sync will fix that, however if container browsing is generally going to be faster than syncing, then I know I'll be preferring to carry on using that. Any feedback on whether the search functionality in container view is going to return, or whether an alphabetical index on the right hand side could be used to speed up browsing?

Thanks :)

I love the RokuRemote app!. But I have one significant issue and one minor one. The significant one is that I can't get it to sync with the iTunes server on my Dlink DNS-323, which is the music server I use in my house 99% of the time. I have a large library (1054 artists) and it consistently hangs up when trying to process the 10th artist. Is there any way to address this? Can I help the developer in some way? Note: when I connect to iTunes running on my PC, sync works just fine.

The other minor suggeston is that during a long sync, I need turn the Auto-Lock off so it sync isn't cut off partway through. I would think it would be straightforward to add a preferences setting that prevents auto-lock when using the RokuRemote app.

Hi Chris,

Composers -> Albums -> Songs is the best for me.

after installing firmware 1.08 on the DNS-323, which allows application add-ins, including an upgraded Firefly server to replace the default iTunes server (available at: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/dns323/Beta/Apps/) this problem is solved. DNS-323/RokuRemote/Soundbridge is an awesome combo and one i could never have contemplated when I bought the soundbridge many years ago.

I had trouble syncing too (see earlier post), also using Qnap (TS-109 running Twonky). Will look forward to on-the-fly sync, although still hoping for alphabetical list on the Browse by Container option!

At this moment in time, if you cannot get sync to work could you please use containers for the time being. I'm starting to think its nothing to do with the RokuRemote or the music servers, but the roku devices themselves not being able to handle a load of commands in very quick succession (I've had a few reports back saying that thier Roku devices just reboot themselves). Sync on-the-fly will fix this due to a reduced amount of command being sent, which I would hope wouldn't kill even the oldest of roku hardware.

As for the other queries, I will certainly add search/alphabet indexing to the containers list (PS: g12345: bit confused by your query as container support was never in v1.x)

Thanks so much for your effort on this Chris. Really nice.

One of my main goals with the app is to be able browse and search for music to add to the current playlist while preparing to hang out for a morning, afternoon or weekend. When I do this I usually have the Soundbridge in "random" mode so it will play a nice variety of what I've added.

This brings us to my request: right now you can only add individual songs to a playlist via the new app. It would be great to be able to add "anything". An album, an artist, a Genre. Think of it as creating an awesome stew... a little of this, a lot of that, some of this..now stir it up!

Do you think this is possible?

Thanks again!

I have a strange behavior:
I'm using iTunes
I have moved my library to a QNAP TS-439pro with itunes service
I can play the music from my Mac
I have shared my library in iTunes
The situation is now the following:
In the RokuRemote I see the NAS Lib and if I turn on my Mac I see also the shared "virtual" Lib
At the beginning both said that a sync is needed
I tried this with both of them
The strange result:
Sync worked fine with the shared Lib from the Mac BUT the sync of the NAS hangs after 25 of 259.
I have to say that's realy strange because it is the SAME Lib!!!!
Why is this behavior????

That's good news about the search/alphabet indexing. Sorry about the confusion - I mixed up containers and folders, I meant that I used to just browse/search my albums in version 1.x which didn't use sync.

Thank you for all the ongoing work!
