FLAC again

Mon Aug 13, 2007 3:39 am

Hi Roku-Patrick (or whoever ot the "officials" reads this)!

could you please give us a hint whether FLAC-Support is on the desktop or not. So we could probably stop yearning for it...

Belu

BTW: I know, this will reduce WLAN-traffic only by ~50% - but this is crucial in many cases (rebuffering, rebuffering rebuffering....).

Don´t forget mp3pro.

I´m saving all my misic in this format, so if it pops up as an option, maybe as an addon licence, it will make me happy. I have payed for a mp3Pro licsence (to Nero) and I use a RCA portable mp3Pro portable player, so this could apply to the roku device to. I hope.

It must be possible to turn this feature on or off, like Itunes running Roku-devices but not on Pinnacle.

Or make mp3Pro a dowloadable module that can only be loadeed to the MAC adress (Roku and Pinnacle device) if you have payed the licens.

Please!! wma lossless

Mon Sep 17, 2007 1:53 pm

I think there's a whole group of users out there who have pretty much given up on the wma lossless upgrade. That would be very nice.

Ogg Vorbis and FLAC please!

Sun Oct 07, 2007 7:36 am

A large chunk of my CD collection is ripped as Ogg Vorbis and FLAC on my server. I'm currently using a transcoding UPnP server but my poor NAS struggles at times. Native playback of royalty-free formats with open source implementations should be a no-brainer, surely!

Can Roku PLEASE give us an indication of whether they're either considering or actively developing native FLAC support. I think there's enough support around this forum for this feature, which is consistently shown to be one of the highest priority requests.

If it can't be done because of hardware limitations I'd rather know, because I really have reached the point of having to look at other options. PLEASE can we have a definitive statement from Roku.

I totally agree with that!! Since there seems to be a really big demand for Roku should support FLAC natively, I definitely agree that a clear statement would be expected, whether it's planned, it's in developing phase, or not planned, or any of these categories at least. Otherwise great product!
Best regards!
