Problem getting Soundbridge Commander to start in Linux

Sat Aug 02, 2008 6:52 pm

I'm having trouble gettting Soundbridge Commander to start in Linux (Kubuntu). I downloaded the jar file, extracted it and then entered "java -jar SoundBridgeCommander.jar" on the command line. The result is this:

steve@SteveOld:~$ java -jar SoundBridgeCommander.jar
service added: SoundBridge
service resolved: SoundBridge
Found Service Info.
New SoundBridgeCommander(SoundBridge,,0,0)

Anyone know how I can fix this problem? Thanks.

It looks like you're running a GNU Java runtime. The particular error you're getting is missing 2D graphics rendering methods. I don't know if it's a configuration problem or that something truly isn't yet implemented. I haven't used GNU Java.

You can get Sun's Java SDK as a free download from I think the program was built under Java 5, but it should run fine under 6 as well.

Thanks. I will take a careful look at just what Java-related software I have installed and, if necessary, install Java SDK. Hopefully that'll solve the problem.

Hmmm. Turns out I already have Java SDK installed, so the problem must lie elsewhere.
