Windows 7 Media Player 12 "Play to" with WHS Home

Tue Dec 29, 2009 8:03 am

I have recently set up Windows 7 set up on my PC and wanted to take advantage of the "Play to" function in the newest Windows Media Player 12 - but so far without success directing files to play that reside on my media server.

WMP12 "sees" my Rokus on the network and attempts to play it, it will even stop what is playing on the radio at the time, but then it stops and gives an error indicating that it can't play from the server.

I have been running my Roku M1000 along with my HP Mediasmart 470+ Windows Home Server for some time now with no real problems.

Any ideas, or anyone experiencing something similar?

Thank you,

There is a Windows 7 sticky thread, some posts cover your problem. Read http://forums.rokulabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=21154

I find the Play to feature unreliable, it can take several attempts to get the file to play (not that I have any need to use it). My music folders are on an external NAS.
