I have posted a new build which contains some significant new features:
  • Enhanced support for scripting languages via the Roku data service
  • Completed event handling support for the Roku Data Service
  • Better support for the latest Roku beta firmware (which is required for this release)
  • Support for Vista
  • Various fixes throughout

I am now working on a Vista gadget. Anyone using my .NET objects needs to download the new build of them.

Any comments welcome as ever.

Further new build (of both the .NET objects and the main app) covering various bug fixes including:
  • Corrected Shuffle, Repeat and TransportState properties
  • Corrected some conflicting values for TransportStates
  • Coded the CurrentSong object for firmware 3.0.24. Note that this relies on the NowPlaying object which is expensive to create - I will be looking at what I can do to cache it but fear that it needs better notification logic in RCP.

On your page:
http://www.tagsoft.co.uk/index.asp?page ... SBMenu.asp

The "download Roku.msi" link:
http://www.tagsoft.co.uk/Download.asp?File=2
is broken (after you type in your Email address and click "Submit"). I figured out how to download it anyhow, but I'm not sure whether this sort of "IQ test" barrier is intentional or not ;-)

Any information on using your software for COM programming would be helpful. I plan to do some Jscript programming, modifying the existing iTunes Jscript provided by "Salling Clicker":
http://www.salling.com/
so that I can use the Clicker interface to control my Soundbridge from my phone.

I have only found one example in this thread, by Wallebalboa dated May 21st; perhaps their are others.

Thanks for your efforts!

jae_63: You can choose to install the documentation for the Roku Data Server when you install it.

Hmm ... maybe I didn't pass that IQ test after all ...

I had guessed [based upon the errors I encountered], perhaps incorrectly, that the correct file to download is:
http://www.tagsoft.co.uk/installation/Roku.msi

but this makes it almost all the way through the installation before complaining that it can't find Roku1.cab

Where is the correct file to download, please?

Hi,
I've hopefully fixed the downloading - the path above is not correct!

With apologies for the cross-post (but I want discussion to it on another thread). I have today published a Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget that displays the status of a Roku.

Let me know what you think!

hi mark,
just downloaded your roku.exe and roku.msi.
install runs with errors (drive f: not found...) from .exe but the .msi runs fine.
now i have the roku symbol in the control panel but if i rightclick or want to set device properties then windows must restart the explorer.

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549b091, faulting module SHELL32.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bdb4, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x002e0773, process id 0x3b0, application start time 0x01c7b38c53cfa5a6

williMeier: From the previous page: "Note that if you upgrade a Soundbridge's firmware it will go through but hang Explorer at the last screen - I am still trying to track this down. "

Edit: as williMeier says, the Roku.exe doesn't work, but the Roku.msi do. When you follow th download-link, the browser tries to download Roku.exe, not Roku.msi (I think this is wrong).

I have changed the link to point to the msi.
Thanks!

mcfh: It would be nice if you created an "Releases"-page on the website. Where all releases with all fixes is written (with download-links for each release). It's hard to see which version I'm using at the moment and which one is the current (if there's any reason to download the Roku.msi).

Have just posted a new build which addresses a lot of COM bugs and adds support for the 3.0.xx firmware commands via COM. It is also required for the latest version of my Gadget.

@Rio - I will do when I get the time. I try and post all the issues and fixes here!

It seems the app does not remember what I select as "content to display when soundbridge is idle" on the Data Services tab. Is that normal?
I configured the Yahoo Weather feed, clicked apply on all windows, ok to close the main window completely. When I go back to the Data Services-tab, it says "(None Selected)" in the dropdown box. Also, it does not show anything on the display.
I tried stopping the Roku service, setting the feed, closing the windows and starting the service, but it still does not remember the setting.

The rest of the app works like a charm!

edit: the checkboxes are ticked

That happens to me too! No matter what I do whenever I return to the config page it has not remembered my choice of feed. Disappointing, I'd love to see this working.

@skelter or cjnuk please can one of you PM me the precise sequence of steps you are doing for this to not happen.

I have seen the problem but it is intermittent and this would significantly help me resolve it.

Thanks
