The solution:
if Live screen display AND Frequenzy visualizer are both turned OFF (!), IBridge takes the Lions share of the CPU at the next start.
No big deal, but good to know....
Concerning the weather on the SB-display: would be nice if could be made scrolling. Otherwise I would prefer to switch it off, since it's just useless on my SB400.

Version 1.5.3 is now available. Fixed thread spinning bug. Added weather display configuration. Choose font number and y offset. Standard font is 1 and y offset for M1000/1 is 8 pixels. If you have M400 or M500 try it and let me know what works. You might try y offset of 1. To see what fonts you have telnet to your Sound Bridge on port 4444. Type sketch. Then type font list. If you want weather turned off, put 0 for display time.

Line 2 empty
Offset 1 splits the string and puts
Line 1: "22:00 10 C Unkn"
Line 2: "Humidity 81% Pre"
All other offsets (tried up to 8 )
Line 1: "22:00 10 C Unkn"
Line 2 empty
Offset 1 is a step into the right direction, but it doesn't help much, since most of the relevant information is stll outside the display. I fear only a "marquee"- option would help.

thanks for all the trouble shooting BeLu. As far as I understand, the M400 like the M500 has a 40 character by 2 line display. If that isn't the case let me know. An offset of 1 should put the second line of text in the correct place as you have shown. I'm troubled why only the first 15 or 16 characters on each line are being displayed. Do the characters only show up on the first half of the display? Is something blocking the second half? I'm avoiding adding Marquee because it works terribly on the M1001. I don't know about the M1000 but I assume it has the same problems. If you could run a couple of test using the sketch->text command that would be helpful. See if you can display something across all 40 characters and on both lines. Try using text 0 0 "1234567890123456780...." and text 0 1 "1234134143134...."
You could also try the marquee command. On the M1001 is seems to be a CPU hog and causes the M1001 to act strangely and eventually requires a reboot to fix.

The 400 has only a 2*16 display. 
Everything beyond char 16 is ignored by sketch/text (no overflow from line 1 to line 2).
What about avoiding all the compatibility trouble by a conditional marquee for the 400? (where it works as far as I tested it)
Since there is an entry:
SR_MODEL_NAME_TINY
eng "M400"
ger "M400"
in my language file, I think it should be possible to get the model-information by SW. But perhaps it is even preferable to make it a general configurable option.
The string is only shown once, hence the marquee-command should be put into a loop.

Installed 1.5.4, changed my default Yahoo weather station, and it shows in the display:
50 F if no Marquee (no degrees sign)
50AoF if Marquee (degrees sign correct, but there is a capital A before it??)

This is great!
I loved the idea of my Roku SoundBridge but never really used it much. I don't really like the interface--I can barely see the screen from my bed, and you have to navigate so much to get to a song.
Your interface is so much better. It took me a minute to realize that I actually had to follow your instructions to make it work, but once I did, I was thrilled.
I will literally listen to my music much more now because of your program.
