you have to use a 3rd party application to create the playlists.
Firefly has a simple smart playlist editor that can create playlists based on certain criteria.

Ron is currently working on a new playlist editor for Firefly that should improve things

Well, technically you can create those playlists in iTunes at least. But you have to make sure that all the file locations are relative etc.
Then you have to copy your iTunes.xml into your mp3_dir and make sure you've enabled all the required options in firefly.

Winamp also is a quite nice tool to create playlists.
WMP should work, as long as you save the playlists as pls or m3u.

Should be able to open it with wmp, then "save as" as a .m3u format. If thiere is an option for "relative m3u" versus "absolute m3u", use relative.

Save the file on the slug in the music share directory, and that should work.

I already have playlists on iTunes. How do I get them to work on firefly. The iTunes music is on my PC. Firefly is on my NAS.

Should I create a new library from my PC for my NAS. Then export the xml file to the NAS. Do I need to change something in regards to relative/absolute file paths? It is an infrant readynas+ NAS.

Should just be able to copy the .xml file from your pc to the music share on your nas. It should just fire right up.

That's the relative format. Is there a checkbox or a "save as" option for "relative" format?
