firefly very slow

my itunes takes 40 min to load 28534 title from my ff-server, this are 115 gb of music, is this normal ?

What device do you use for a server?
iTunes loads ALL playlists during connecting. If your server is a NSLU2 or some similiar device, and you have a lot of playlists, this might actually sound like reasonable numbers.

I use an Buffalo Linkstation Pro V2 with freelink (hacked firmware) it runs with debian 4.0 . My network ist based on 100mbit/sec

Yeah, that's a large list for such a memory-starved device. Probably swapping up a storm. Particularly if you have lots of playlists. There is a really ugly join that has to happen to build playlists.

I'm refactoring the db stuff right now. I expect in a week or so, I'll have in-memory playlists. that might work better, if you are following nightlies.
