I'm suddenly running into a problem with keeping the server app running. I start it, ROKU connects fine, music plays fine.... then for no apparent reason server stops. When I restart the server process repeats. There is no rhyme nor reason as to time length the server runs. I've been using FF for years with no issue. only changes are that I moved the server and library to a central network server. The revised setup was working fine until I loaded the latest version of iTunes. Could be a coincidence, but perhaps the new version of iTunes broke something???
Simply maddening. Any thoughts?

Is this like a windows home server or something?
Yeah, I imagine it's distinctly possible that a new iTunes put in a new mdns responder that acts differently. You could always try re-installing the 1.0.4 bonjour for windows and seeing if that fixes it up.
Another possiblity might be that the server is going to sleep... I've heard that when windows machines wake from sleep, the bonjour stuff doesn't get re-registered. I was going to try and hack on it a bit to see if I could find a way to make it re-register with bonjour on a wake event.
Also, I don't do anything to tell the server not to sleep when I'm serving songs, so perhaps that is related, too.
I'm not in a position to work on that stuff right now -- I'm in the middle of working on the database stuff right now, and it isn't in a completely working state, so I can't build a version with this fix in it. But if you give me a week or so and email me at
ron@pedde.com, I should be in a position to take a look at this.
