Pinnacle M1001 and Synology DS207+ incompatible server

Mon Mar 03, 2008 12:24 pm

After spending some days all around the net, I am afraid I really need some help.
I have got a DS207+ since a few weeks and I have installed the latest firefly 1696 version for my arm architecture on the DS207+, and everything looks correct, the firefly web server is accessible, the mp3 scan is OK but in the end, I still have the "incompatible server found" problem on the soundbridge.
I read here and there that it means that the soundbridge does not see the good protocol (rsp if I am not wrong) and sees the itunes one instead. Actually, the itunes client running on my mac does see the firefly server.
Well I suppose I missed something in the firefly installation. I read that some plugin are required for firefly to work with pinnacle soundbridge but I have no clue where I could find them ?
Also tried the 1586 version of firefly to be sure, but no luck.
I also try different version of the soundbridge, including the last beta 3.0.51
I am kind of desperate here as some people with exactly the same hardware have successful installation of firefly, I really dont understand.

Thanks for any help.

And, you don't have sharing enabled in itunes anywhere on your network?

No I don't have any other Itunes share in the network.

Is there a way to know if the rsp protocol is available in a given installation of firefly ?

You could try
http://your-server:3689/rsp/stream/1

It should pull down the first file.

this gives the following page:

Not found
Error 404 mt-daapd: 0.2.4.1
Error: No such file or directory

Does it mean I miss something in the firefly installation ?

You are running a "stable" version that does not support RSP.
RSP was added in the "nightlies" - try build 1586 from http://nightlies.fireflymediaserver.org/.

Well I thought I did it many times but after a new check, I found something strange. Actually the ipkg install goes always downloading the mt-daapd from a server, even when I specify the nightly-build file on the command line. it looks like it does not take the file as parameters.

How to force it to take the ipk file I download ?

i am not an expert on your platform, but you can manually download the package to your device with
wget http://nightlies.fireflymediaserver.org/nightlies/svn-1696/mt-daapd_svn-1696-1ds101g_powerpc.ipk
(if that is the correct one)

Then try
ipkg install mt-daapd_svn-1696-1ds101g_powerpc.ipk

yes that is exactly what I have done (with the arm version for the DS207+) but this is always downloading the normal version as if the file was not seen.
Anyway, I think I am on the good path to solve my problem.
I will check other way around to install this package...

Ok I managed to install it but not the ipkg way. I have followed this thread:

http://www.synology.com/enu/forum/viewt ... &sk=t&sd=a

I still dont understand why the ipkg doesn't work since it works for other package but anyway, I found a solution.

Thanks sonichouse for your help, you put me in the right direction.

DS 207+ vs Pinnacle Remake

Tue Jun 17, 2008 3:45 pm

Iolo,

I followed the thread too. And everything was great, but the Pinnacle is seeing an incompatible server. Where can I get the nightly 1586 (for example) version for arm from? Is Mike's version providing the required rsp support? According to my experience it isn't. But may be I did something wrong? The mt-daapd works fine otherwise and does stream music to a Laptop. It just doesn't pass the test with http://<serverIP>:3689/rsp/stream/1 - this produces a 404 error, and the Pinnacle doesn't see the box.

Thanks for your help,

Uwe

Hi,

I managed to have firefly running fine on a DS207+ following the following setup instructions :
http://www.synology.com/wiki/index.php/Compiled_programs_for_Marvell_mv5281_ARM-based_Synology_Products

It runs perfectly a 1696svn version. The only issue I haven't resolve yet is the transcodification of .ogg

yannlieb - excellent, congrats, are you saying your ds207+ firefly version runs with the Pinnacle M1001 as a client and there is no "incompatible server" error message on the Pinnacle's display?

Hi,

Sorry for the (very) late answer. My roku is the Soundbridge Radio (Pinnacle). Don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm interested to know, as I might buy one soon...

Thanks,
Yann
