Firefly does not run since I downloaded some mp3 albums from Amazon. The log says :-Could not realpath C:\Documents and Settings\Keith\My Documents\My Music\Amazon MP3\Jacqueline Du Prᅢᄅ_Daniel Barenboim_New Philharmonia Orchestra_London Philharmonic Orchestra_Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau\Schumann_ Co/01 - Cello Concerto in A minor Op. 129 (1992 Digital Remaste.mp3

Try shortening the file and folder name to something more practical... Also you have both \ and / present. The latter may be confusing things. As a last possibility, try removing the accented character in "Du Pres".

I changed the file name to something much shorter but I still get the original error message with the previous long filename ? How is it possible?

Hi malcolmkeith,

did you remove the accented character in "Du Pré" as S80_UK suggested?

Greetings

What DRM does Amazon use? Not sure if Firefly can cope with anything other than iTunes, perhaps other firefly experts can advise on this. You may be better off on the fireflymediaserver.org site but unfortunately this has been unavailable for the past few days.

AFAIK, Firefly does not support any DRM protected music.

Firefly may be choking on the old database entry for this track.
Even though you've shortened the name, there is still a db entry for the old name.
Try deleting the db file and have Firefly build a new one from scratch.
The database will be named songs.db or songs3.db

Amazon's tracks aren't DRM'd. All are MP3, bitrates vary, but usually Lame -alt preset insane or 320 CBR.

I think the problem does somehow lie with the length of your path and/or punctuation and special characters.

I've had similar issues with various versions of Firefly in the past. But latest nightly SVN-1696 seems to deal with these things a little better.

But I would suggest using a much simpler path structure for your music libary...It just makes life easer. When I download from Amazon, I move the files to something called M:\musiclib (which happens to be a NAS drive).

It's just that if there are naming size limitations, you'll certainly run into those sooner or later by using iTunes or Amazon's painful default directory structures.

The NTFS filesystem used in Windows XP/Vista does not support filename paths longer than 255 characters.

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom still allow you to save longer file paths, but you may experience some unexpected behaviours from various programs.

Try shortening the length of the entire path down and see if it works then :)
