Soundbridge don´t find firefly, but finds other servers?

Mon Dec 29, 2008 4:06 pm

Hi.

My soundbridge can´t find my firefly server, it shows on the computer that it´s running and itunes finds my firefly library, but it wont show up on the SB.

My setup is:
SB to router via ethernet cable.
It can play internet radio.
I can controll it via it´s own interface on computer.
I can controll it via visual mr.
It shows up on my computer as an upnp device, but when i try to enter the device it´s says that it´s unevaleable on the network?
I can play my mp3s from squeezecenter.

I have a Thomson tg787 router who has a mediaserver in it (via usb) and when i enable that it´s shows up on the SB.

Bonjour is installed, but how can i see if it´s running?
Firefly version is 1586.

No firewall on win xp.
Upnp enable on pc and router.

So what can be the problem with firefly?
Is there some ports on my router that´s not are open?
And if some one can help me with the router settings, i dont know how to open ports?

/Thanks.

Opening ports on the router is opening them to them outside world, you don't need to open (router) ports for devices within your network.

Can the SB see iTunes when it's set to share it's library? You may have to stop Firefly to do this.

Is the computer also connected to the router via ethernet cable?

Some update.

After a number of different servers, cumputers, and other solutions i replaced the router to a D-link 615 and the firefly server showed up on the soundbridge and everything work ok.

So it must have been the Thomson router who dont handle the multicast very well.

That's lucky, not all D-Link routers work with Firefly.

surely there must be an alternative solution to changing the router, has the orginal poster resolved the problem yet?
