Can't find avcodec.h on Ubuntu 9.04 and svn-1586

Sun May 24, 2009 5:40 am

I recently upgraded my Ubuntu box and it has been some time since I compiled Firefly. I need to build from source because I need the ogg transcoding.

avcodec.h is located in /usr/include/libavcodec/

I tried cofiguring with ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-sqlite3 --enable-oggvorbis --enable-flac --with--ffmpeg-includes=/usr/include --enable-ffmpeg, which gave the error about avcodec.h not found. I included the libavcodec directory for --with-ffmpeg-includes= but received the same error. I vaguely remember the last time I built that the includes might have been in /usr/include/ffmpeg, go I created a symlink pointing to /usr/include/libavcodec, which still didn't work.

Help, I'm musicless!

Workaround

I got around this by installing mt-daapd from the apt repositories, but to get ogg transcoding involved a bit of work, which I described on the ubuntu forms:
