What version of Firefly are you running? What OS?
You might try stopping Firefly, delete the database, and restart. See if it keeps crashing at the same point. It looks like it inserted 13378 successfully.

So when I'm restricting firefly to only search one folder at the time it works great. IT PLAYS MY .flac files. Yeah Yeah Yeah :D :D :D . So there must be some type of file in my general music folder that makes firefly shut down. Any ideas what files types or file extensions firefly can't deal with :?:

Thanks for your time.

Firefly can choke on certain metadata - it could very well be just a single file. You can try to isolate it by moving half the files into another directory that's not being scanned by Firefly. Rescan and see what happens - then split the 'problem half' in half again until you isolate the file. This can be time consuming but if it is only one file you will find it. How many files do you have?

Another way may be to increase the logging level to get more details - it may even show you which file is problematic.

Hey there guys, I'm working on the exact same problem I think. I would start a new thread, but as this seems to be relevant and active I would just post my question here.

I have a lot of music, roughly 90,000 songs. As you can imagine it chokes, for me I can get it to scan 18,050 so far which is progress. So I have increased logging to 9 to see if I could tell which file it is scanning when it dies, but it isnt showing me. You see something in here I should try and run down?

Alright, I didn't see the awesome debug mode, here's what I get. Looks as if maybe it's chokin' on John Lee Hooker.

Yep, that looks like a problem. Did you try moving the file to a non Firefly location? Once you locate the bad file, try to edit the file's metadata tag and see if that fixes it. With 90K files, you may have some work ahead of you :)

Hey thanks for the reply! So what I am doing now is running debug till it chokes ( and luckily it has been choking in the middle of whole albums) then I open the album in mp3tag and edit all the blank fields to <blank> and re-enter the data that is the same for all of the songs. I am up to 61,232 and counting! What a program this is!! I have just been working inside of the folders and editing them locally. With this much music I cant be too picky :D

It worked!!! K so it got everything scanned, took alllll day but it all ended up showing up. Thanks for the ideas! In order to do it all I just had to run the program in debug to generate the whole list so that I could narrow down where it was when it "choked". I now have it loaded but am running into some issues. The first is I had to add .flac to the list of files to scan which adds them, but when ever I try and play one I get nothing on my phone. Mp3s seem to load fine, but flacs do not. Is this a limitation of the .dll plugin? If so where would I go to get this solved?

Can't help you there- I only use MP3's. You might want to start a new thread with a subject that better describes this new issue.

>but when ever I try and play one I get nothing on my phone.

Do you have a Firefly app for your phone? What platform?
