Ok, by running in the foreground... I'm catching the WMA files that Firefly is crashing on. So far I've found 2 files that cause grief... that originally didn't. Once I gather all of them, I guess I'll pass them to you for evaluation.

Aaah... thank you thank you.

Ron, I sent you 2 samples. Tell me if you get them. Hopefully, your spam filters aren't too aggressive. :)

Got 'em. Should be fixed in the svn-1082 nightly.

Ok, so far... so good... it's scanning without crashing... I'll beat on it once it finishes. :D Thanks, Ron.

I'm thiiiiiis close to native transcoding of wma (not lossless *yet*), flac, alac and ogg using ffmpeg. I hope to have something in the next couple days. So look for that.

Ok, all is well. Indexed everything without crashing, including all my odd WMA Lossless, WMA Pro & WMA Voice test files that SoundBridge won't play. So, that part seems to be fixed. :)

However, I did get Firefly to crash out a few times already while running/streaming/browsing/searching. Not exactly sure if I can repro it easily. Any recommendation on how I can chase this without a ridiculously large log?

Anyway, thanks again... getting better and better... looking forward to the transcoding support.

Definitely fixed for me in svn-1082 also. I did the same sequence of things just now when I upgraded from svn-1025 and it now fully rescans successfully after deleting songs.db. I haven't played anything with svn-1082 yet, but I'll try to in the next day or so.

Thanks,

1082 is still crashing for me... I did an uninstall/reinstall, but didn't seek out anything else before retrying. Didn't have a problem until I re-edited the config file to include .WMA files. I'm pointing to my downconversion library of WMA files (not lossless).

I'll try running from the command line tonight to see if I can locate a specific WMA file.

With 1082, the indexing is stable is stable for me. I can delete the .db and it doesn't crash when rebuiding.

However, Firefly crashes eventually while serving content. I can't keep it running. If it's idle, it stays running. This is over both RSP and DAAP. Can't get any decent log/debug info...

Ron, I don't know enough about how to drive the executable to give you any useful feedback, but 1082 is still crashing on my system with WMAs. It appears to work fine if I point the server at an all MP3 tree...

Any pointers on what to do to help you out?

You can run it directly from a command prompt -- change to the "c:\program files\firefly media server" directory and run "firefly -d9 -f"

It will dump a bunch of junk, and you should see what file its choking on.

If you mail me that file at ron at pedde.com, I can fix it.

Ron,

I've sent one of the offending WMA files to you... There are at least a dozen in my collection, and that's only into the "B's". One of the interesting things they have in common so far is that they have commas in their Album Artist and Artist tags...
