networking - clear or flush udp datagram buffer

Tue Feb 21, 2012 2:40 pm

i'm working on a project with several networked hd1010w brightsigns. each unit plays back content groups that start at preset / synced times. the content groups consist of different files with different lengths - so the master is often waiting for slaves to finish playing before telling the network to move on to the next sync point. the slaves tell the master they are ready by sending 'ready' messages using udp datagram send / receive.

the problem is that it seems that there is a buffer of old incoming udp packets / messages ... they sometimes appear long after they are sent, when the port is next checked for messages.

is there some way to flush / clear the udp datagram receiver? or should i simply disconnect / and then reset it?

thanks in advance!

There shouldn't be any buffer. Is this a custom script? Are you not processing the udp responses while the master is waiting?
