Return of the Dead Roku

Mon Jul 09, 2007 11:56 am

On May 14, 2007 my dead HD1000 was returned in working order form RokuLabs. The power supply was replaced. Between then and last Thursday I only had a chance to try the PhotoBridge a couple of times due to other projects. The two times I powered the unit on, it worked properly.

Last Tuesday I went to power-on, the unit hung (left green light and activity light stuck on with no video). I unplugged and waited 30 seconds. When I powered back in again, no lights - dead Roku again. The only LEDs that operate are on the back of the ethernet socket.

Last Thursday I sent a Customer Care message to RokuLabs. As usual I have not heard anything back yet. Does anyone know how long the warranty is for a PhotoBridge power supply replacement?

I'm debating whether to toss more money into this unit. The reliabily of the power supply seems to be one of the worst in a commercial product. Almost like no one expected these units to be used three years later.

About 1/3 to 1/2way down, you should see some ideas.
Check your PM, I may have some more input for you.
