FW 2.0.3X UPNP drivers/file

Mon Mar 31, 2008 10:57 am

Anyone here good with UPNP and Linux? I was wanting to see if someone has to could redo the UPNP scriipt to work with XP and Vista?

Right now, with XP, the HD1000 can see XP and XP (media connect) can see the HD1K. HOwever, when you navagate to the music portion, you do not see any music files to use, you can see the directories and such, but no music. The photo portion seems to work fine though.

I am able to view pictures on the HD1K via Windows Media Connect ((WMC) which is now embeded into WMP11 ) from my XP PC and I even think I was able to do the same from my nephews Vista Laptop. But the music, she will not sing to me...

Anyway, hoping some bored Linux head may want a challange.

Wishfully hoping, Matt

Also, I don't even know if this is do-able either.

EDIT: WMC 1.0 worked, it was 2.0 and WMP11 that quit.

If ALL you want is music, you could try the slimserver route on Linux with Endless' slimroku.

TVersity seems to be all the rage in UPnP server on the Linux side. I tried it, but ran into unrelated hardware problems with my RAID and have not since tried again. So I will watch this thread with interest too.

My, I'd like a UPnP server that could serve audio and video to both my PB and my PS/3. Then I could move my PB's to the two TVs that have no PS/3.

But unfortunately right now I am suffering another hardware problem on my video server. Perhaps 24/7 operation over something like 5+ years on my poor little 2.4GHz HT Pentium-4 machine has finally succumbed.

Just for data...

Intel's XWPC server acts the same way as WMC does on the HD1000, you can see and access the pictures folders, as well as see the pictures themselves, but the music you can only see the fodlers, when you open an album, there is no data inside.
