Streaming files from Linkstation using Twonky

Mon Apr 18, 2005 10:10 am

I have a SoundBridge working rather well using Twonkyvision mediaserver to stream my mp3 collection.

If I bought a PhotoBridge could I effectively do the same as above?
More importantly could I stream DivX movies to it? I've read that the PB won't read them or that I would have to install seperate server to do so?

I'm sure somehow this is achievable, but has anyone done it? Does it work well?

Thanks

Since Twonkyvision is a UPnP server app - presumably you'll have to wait until Roku delivers the long-promised UPnP client support for the HD1000. Next beta version, maybe?

We have been promised UPnP support in the production version of Version 2.0 firmware. This should give you streaming mp3. It may even give you streaming mpeg video. It won't give Divx video though, as the CPU in the Roku hasn't got the cycles for that. Search the forums for TheaterSix for info on how to transcode Divx using VLC on the fly from a PC.
