RadioRoku website is down

Sun Jun 15, 2008 9:33 am

O.k. folks, the website is down. It was probably bound to happen with it's growth to over 10,000 stations. I have a noticed a trend of including multiple urls for the same station. The volume of entries took the database past the point it could handle. It happens.

The biggest problem is that there has been no communication from Roku to us - loyal listeners. This is just bad business.

If I was in charge of Roku, here's what I'd do for damage control:

Send out a mass e-mail to everybody registered here and on RadioRoku apologizing for the problem and keeping us informed of when it will be resolved.

After the problem is resolved, send out another e-mail describing the resolution and, once again, apologizing for the problem. A discount coupon for purchase of Roku products wouldn't be a bad idea either.

The aforementioned is simply just good business. C'mon Roku, you're in the big leagues - time to step up to the plate.

Hi Athelion,

let me put it politely: you are slighlty underestimating the amount of data that MySQL can handle.

Why is the clock working? Where does it get its signal from?

time server - nothing to do with radio roku. Your machine is still connected to the www. Trouble is, it's the weekend & the radio is evidently not worth Roku's trouble at such times. Draw your own conclusions...

Ok so the local radio scene is not too good where you are ? I imagine you have at least 1 local country station ?

Country music is very unpopular in the UK
