Forcing Device release from defunct radioroku account

Sat Jun 19, 2010 10:17 am

Hi

I purchased a Roku Soundbridge M1001 on eBay and recently tried to register the device on my radioroku account
but It fails to add.
The account is fine, the device is found on the LAN and other M1001's I have add correctly.
The manual add process (via IP address) seems to complete successfully.
I can only surmise that this device was registered by a previous owner and hasn't been released.
(radioroku says a device can only be registered to one account and the Device's "MyFavorites" function works so it has definitely been registered to some account.)
Unfortunately the person I bought it from can't recall registering it or setting up any radioroku account so I'm stuck.

Is there any way to force a device release from an unknown defunct account?
It would seem pretty silly if not!
Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers
P.S. I don't get a "device assigned to another account" message that I have seen mentioned in another post so I cannot be sure this is the reason my device doesn't add but I have no other leads.

UPDATE:

Progress!
Clicking the Discover Devices button listed the device as assigned to another account,
gave the email address of that account and a way for Roku support to reassign the Unique ID.
Looks like it's gonna work out.
Sorry for the unnecessary bandwidth.

Did they ever fix it for you? I'm still waiting with the same issue....

UPDATE: Posting here got a quick response from Roku and I'm good to go!

eddieb:

You will not get a support response from Roku. If you are unable to contact the original owner to release the account then see this thread for instructions.

Thanks,

I noticed your reply on the other post, I did change the UniqueId with an rcp command and now I can register the 2nd SoundBridge ..
Everything is ok now !
