I have noticed that there is a lag when scrolling through categories on Netflix, HBO Go, and UFC TV since Tuesday's firmware update to version 7.6.0 build 4108-04 on Roku 3. My model is 4230X. I am likely going to be getting a Roku from the newer product line within the next week or two, but I will be moving my Roku 3 into a different room in my home. Although from what I read online most notably from Cord Cutters with regard to this recent firmware update that the update is more geared for Roku TV's and for the recently released product line. I thought I would be helpful and pass along the issue I noticed since the update. If any of the moderators need more information please let me know. Thanks.
Besides the flickering I already mentioned on the main Roku menu and on the Starz resume screen, I'm also experiencing the same issue as the OP. I sent my model number and serial number to the Roku admin on the Reddit forum. In short, anything sent to the Roku admin on the Reddit forum should be added to the list, right?
Hi Shawn, I want to pass along that I have had to reboot my Roku a couple of times as well due to channels not loading after being in sleep mode, I would have mentioned that before, but it just started doing that over the holiday weekend. Everything else is working as it should, but that is something I have noticed since the last firmware update. Thanks again I appreciate it.
Just noticed mine(4200X) do it yesterday after a week of not using it. I'm using an IR remote by the way. Some button presses on the remote would not register so you notice the apparent lag. Or if I press and hold a button it normally scrolls fast and smooth, but this time it would hiccup every few seconds. A couple of soft reboot did not eliminate the problem. Going to the Secret Menu the temperature was 54°C. I finally unplugged the power for a couple of minutes until I no longer felt any warmth on the unit. Powered it up and the stutter was gone. Temperature was down 2°C.
I'm also having this issue. Definitely noticeable in Netflix, Amazon, HBO Go, and most especially Emby. It took me awhile to figure out that it was a Roku update, and not my internet or any specific channel. I've checked four Rokus. Roku 2 and Roku 1's are all affected. The Roku 4 is not (though I have not looked at which version the Roku 4 is running atm). Really hope you guys are working on a fix for this.
Yep - jumping, jittering - what ever you want to call it. Primary use for the device is Plex. Issue present on Official Plex app, RARflix, all apps and channels. Not to mention the spontaneous locking and rebooting. FW 'upgrades' that break stuff ain't cool.
Hi, just a follow-up on my situation. I turned off the screen saver. i don't need it because i use input switching in my AVR to go between the roku and cable. since doing that i've had no scrolling lag/lock-ups.
might be worth a shot for others to try. i found this suggestion in an other older thread.
I was really hoping that the 7.6 update was going to address this issue. Sadly, it has not. I'm running 7.6 now, and still have this stuttering lag. I don't really understand why this is an unresolved issue, since it WASN'T an issue in previous releases. And why has no one from Roku replied to these comments, since April?
