7.6 firmware available on some Roku TVs and all Roku 1 and 4s.

Tue Apr 18, 2017 7:34 pm

The firmware is still in slow rollout, however manual updates have been enabled for some of the platforms.
Unfortunately it is still not available for Roku-3 and the latest Roku-2s as we are still evaluating its performance.
Ultra, Premier and Premier+ is also not yet available.
It is still available for Roku-4
We want to know about any new issues.
thanks

Pulled it down on my TCL TV today.  Was hoping that one of the "Fixes bootup time on some RokuTV" would solve the issue of network disconnecting when the TV is off causing a 30 second bootup connection time.  But, guess that wasn't in the update.

Anyone try 7.6 yet on an old Roku 2 or 2XS?

Not certain the 2 XS is eligible for this version of the firmware. I haven't powered mine up recently, but I don't recall it even having 7.5. It's like Apple not supporting older hardware with the latest versions of iOS. There comes a time that support for older devices has to be cut, to allow adding features for later hardware that isn't supported on older hardware. My employer had to replace my iPad 2 (which I had only had for a little under 2 years) because Apple wouldn't support iOS 10 on it, and our security package required updating to iOS 10.
.
Frankly, I've shelved my 2 XS because of it's lack of overall performance. Newer devices work so much better, and just don't cost all that much.

Has the 7.6 firmware rolled out for the Sharp Roku TVs yet? I keep checking using manual update but nothing new is found.

If manual update doesn't get you 7.6 then either we've not started the update for that platform, or we've paused the update for that platform while we investigate the results.

Few days ago, my Premier+ got updated to 7.6.4113. Today it got another update 7.6.4116.  Does anyone know what 4116 update has in it?

Also updated my Roku 2XS today to 7.6.4116.

Thanks

My Roku 1 got the 7.6 update option on Sunday, need to check my sons's LT, and they say its not available yet for my Roku 3.

Manual updates are enabled for all Roku 1,2,3,4 players (and earlier streaming sticks) at this time.
streaming flac fixed.
a memory leak when playing ts files
For roku3,roku-2, and streaming sticks, some hdcp problems fixed.
.ogg/vorbis audio files are supported (an RMP update is in the works to add them)

Any plans to ever fix the audio popping? There is no way this can't be replicated...
I'd appreciate an actual answer so I can begrudgingly move on to new hardware if no effort is being made. 7.6 made it worse for me, pops, clicks, and chirps, in nearly every app using hdmi passthrough. All that and I'm only running at 1080p at the moment.
I can provide proof of ownership of at least 15 Roku devices/tvs, and even more that have been gifted. I've been a loyal customer, but this silence nonsense is really getting to be offensive.

I was hoping to limit this thread to non Ultra,Express,Premier, and Premier+, but I will say there is an active investigation into the popping and clicking problem on Ultra.

The issue about the lag/sluggish display on Roku-3 is still being investigated.

There is also an issue with Roku-3 and Roku-2 where the 7.6 firmware doesn't take and it reboots back to 7.5, or the Roku seems to be in a state of constant rebooting. If you are experiencing any of those problems please contact us.
thanks

Roku-2 and Roku-3, and early roku sticks are now paused again while we evaluate the additional results we are getting from the field.
Thanks for your patience.
