To avoid transcoding, one work around is to copy the video file to a USB stick and have RMP play it directly off the USB stick plugged into the Roku.

Thanks for the info, kind of defeats the purpose of what I was trying to do though with storage and whatnot.  Look forward to it being fixed.  Is there anyway I could go back to a prior release?

Unfortunately at this time it is not possible to revert to the earlier version of RMP. Joining the RMP beta group gives you the ability to test the next version of RMP as well as continue using the current version. There are others here on the forum that are also members of the RMP beta group and maybe they can comment on their experience with it.
For the short term, the options are copy files to a USB drive, or you could install one of the other dlna media players on to your PC.

Hello.

I have run into a problem from what believe is this new update.  I am running a Twonky DLNA to a Roku One.  All of my videos are on a shared videos folder and in M4V format with JPG files for video images.  Until this weekend, everything worked perfectly.  Now I get the error "No compatible videos found in: Shared Videos". I have made no changes to me DLNA server.  Any thoughts?  I am not super savvy to this, so use small words.

Solved my problem.  My DLNA was on a WD MyCloud.  I had the MyCloud rebuild my DLNA database and that somehow restored access to my videos.

New RMP 4.1.1541 can't play _non_default_ audio streams in my video files:

Here is the MKV file with several streams:
Input #0, matroska,webm
 Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (High)
 Stream #0:1: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 192 kb/s (default)
 Stream #0:2: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 192 kb/s
 Stream #0:3: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 192 kb/s
 Stream #0:4: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5.1(side), fltp, 384 kb/s
Stream #0:5: Subtitle: subrip
Stream #0:6: Subtitle: subrip

If I select non-default Audio stream, I got an error: "The codec used to compress the audio is not supported"
As you may see above the same audio codec AC3 is used for every audio stream.

Device: 4210X - Roku2
Software 7.6.0 build 4125-04

As a test, is it possible to transfer the file to  usb drive and try it there? Minidlna doesn't do any transcoding and the only thing that really changed for minidlna is that thumbnails for you videos should now work if you provide a movie.jpg file.
It is the firmware that is actually doing the playback and subtitle control.

I have transferred the file to USB (FAT32) and observed the same error while changing the Audio stream.
I can confirm that thumbnails work now.

Update: I have resolved the issue by changing: Settings->Audio->HDMI from "Auto-detect" to "Dolby D+, DTS".

How do we list the files in a list showing names and dates (like in windows) instead of the much less useful grid style?

what was your audio setting before? Auto? If Auto what codecs did it say it was able to find? Do you have an AVR connected to your system, which model? What type of TV is connected?

I have a simple setup Roku -> HDMI -> Samsung UN55D8000
Regarding the setting, I am not sure, so either
1) The setting was reset to "Auto" during new Roku FW upgrade
2) "Auto" stopped working for me after the FW upgrade

RMP 4.1.1544 was released today to fix the Windows DLNA server issue and FF/REW.
Note that transcoded videos still can't be FF/REW, however RMP tries to pick the direct-play stream if it thinks it can play it.
