Filmon.tv

Sun May 14, 2017 5:54 am

Anyone know what is going on with Filmon.tv channel on Roku? I've been enjoying this private channel for several months but for the last few days when I watch any program it plays for about 5 minutes and then says "loading". Its not my internet speed. I have a 100Mb/s connection and there are no problems with any other Roku channel (Netflix, Acorn, Amazon, etc).
Thanks.

FilmOn has gone the way of paid subscription...something like $15 a month.Maybe a work around will be available soon.

You're talking about FilmOn TV. I know its a subscription channel. The channel I'm talking about is FilmOn.TV. I guess if it doesn't get fixed I'll have to subscribe (again) to UKTV. It has many of the channels that are on FilmOn.TV.

I have that channel installed, but hadn't used it in a while. It seems the stations I was using before might not be there any longer. I did try playing one and encountered the same issue (play for a few minutes then stuck on loading). So it appears to be a problem at their end.

On FilmOn's Android app, the streams now only play for 2 minutes (there's a countdown timer on the screen), then you're taken to a sign-up page for a subscription. This is a recent change, the streams just no longer work. You're getting those same 2-min streams, you're just not seeing the timer or the subscription page.

Again it's gone the way of a paid subscription...FilmOn.TV...FilmOn...FOTV any variation of the name all use the same source.Doesn't matter where you go right now you get 2 mins or so of viewing before it locks up or a screen comes up asking to subscribe.

Yep, didn't see the timer or sign up page. No problem, it wasn't something I would consider subscribing to anyway.  :D

If I recall, the bone of contention was free Hulu .. now that it has gone the bone has been buried

Hi Knuckle:
Don't know what are you trying to say in regards to Hulu and FilmOn.  But "Hulu free" still exists.  It is called "Yahoo View" now.  I suppose that FilmOn wants to get a piece of the pie now since so many paid streaming services are now popping up.  But IMO outside of England (Where they provide the OTA channels) I don't see the value in their content to justify paying their sub fees unless you indeed like what they offer and want to record with their DVR service content from their streaming sources,
