Unlikely they will roll anyone back to 7.6 now that 8.0 is being rolled out. They will want to see if 8 fixes the problem, which I'm sure is what they are expecting.

Here's hoping Windows 8 for Roku works better for Roku than it did for Microsoft.

How can I get this updated?

They are rolling it out now. How they decide who gets updated when, I have no idea. I've never heard of anyone requesting an early update and getting anywhere.

While I can't comment completely, I think I can safely say this since we've talked about it in other threads in the past:

As with almost all firmware rollouts, we generally target specific model numbers over the course of a month or two, specifically on different weeks for each platform, and randomly choose (not sure how this random process works) a certain number of units to update (usually 10k-20k for the first round) per model number.  The specific model numbers that are updated will be spread out over the course (in the case of 8.0) this month and next.

I'm not at liberty to release the rollout schedule, unfortunately.  I do know, as has been posted on the forums previously, we generally enable "Manual Updates" (Settings > System > Check for Update) at a certain point in most cases.  I don't know if we're going to do that this time, but I expect we will.

Those of you asking about your current downgrade status:

I've added almost everyone to the downgrade lists as of today.  I have another 41 or so in my inbox, and a few in PMs.  If you PM'd me the information, I highly recommend you email me (ssmith@roku.com) instead ... if you make the subject line "7.6 Downgrade" it goes into a special folder marked for this kind of thing.  Unfortunately for phpBB, it's impossible for me to filter your requests out of all the other PMs I get.  If you've already sent an email and haven't upgraded/downgraded, it either didn't reach me, didn't have the proper format (I need your serial number and model number ... I cannot and do not have the ability to look up your serial numbers by email address), or didn't have the proper subject line and got buried by another filter.

As for are we still downgrading/upgrading?  Yes and no.  Ideally, we don't want to downgrade anyone else now that 8.0 is on the way, but we understand that there are a great many of you who are still frustrated and just want things working.  Believe me ... I do too!

I'm going to be working a little overtime this weekend, and will do my best to get some of these questions answered, and figure out where we all stand.  Just please try to be patient.

It is frustrating for sure, but this is a pretty straightforward and reasonable response from Shawn.  I have submitted my serial and model # with the "7.6 Downgrade" subject line.  We'll see how this goes.

I submitted emails 3 days ago and my devices are still stuck at 7.7.

Anyone know a good lawyer? This is starting to look like class action material.

A class action suit for something so inexpensive would provide virtually nothing to anyone but the lawyers. We aren't talking about many hundreds to thousands of dollars. Except for the Ultra, no Roku was over $100. There's no danger to your health (except driving you crazy with the issues), no damage to property. The product just doesn't rise to that level of litigation.

It's been a week since I've submitted the special "7.6 Downgrade" email to have our Roku rollbacked back to the old 7.6 firmware.
Shawn (Roku), can you please get us processed?

I've been meaning to post this for weeks.

Roku 2   2720X
Software version 7.70 Build 4135

Remote: model RC07
Firmware version: 2.01.08.216

Headphones/private listening mode no longer works correctly on my box.

When I plug in headphones I either get no sound or sound locked at 100% volume in the headphones.  If I pull the batteries from the remote to reset it, sound comes back but is locked at 100%.
Hitting the down volume button gives the  "(speaker icon) + x" on the screen like it thinks it is muted.  Hitting the up button gives a "(speaker icon) + 1" (not the normal range of numbers).  Regardless, the headphone is still 100%.

I've tried
1) rebooting
2) power cycling the unit
3)  changing all the audio setting
4)  pairing the remote again
but nothing seems to fix the issue.

My Plex app was crashing after 1-2 minutes of playback since the 7.7 update. Not wanting to wait for roku staff to roll back my version to 7.6, I did this fix instead and it works fine now.

I hope this helps others as well!

I tried this fix and was able to login to the secret menu. I chose update software which basically re-installed the updated software 7.7. It reboot my box automatically after update. I tested playback and did not fix the issue. Playback went back to home screen after 2 min of play. Wish there was an option to roll back software.

Been there done that. The 7.7 reinstall didn't fix anything on my end.
Hey how about the roll back or upgrade to 8 I am still waiting on?

Am I going see it sometime this year?
Might be time to start discussing the best alternative to Roku.

I got tired of waiting. Since My Roku 3 works fine with the updated 7.7, I decided to just pick up another Roku 4. All running on 7.7 and works fine as it was not affected by the software update. Maybe this is a sign to just upgrade to a better/newer box.

Thats exactly what a retailer wants. Break your item so then you have to upgrade. Magical Clap Bravo spend spend spend because they break it.
