I'm still waiting to get a response on my query on if the WiFi chipset and CPU were upgraded. I bought the 4640X recently so I'm still deciding if I should return it for the 4660X.

The removal of the optical port on the Ultra is not an issue for most assuming the TV has an optical audio output port. If the TV is switching the HDMI inputs then the TV's optical output would provide audio to the soundbar or whatever, a Roku optical output is redundant. Personally I prefer using HDMI to provide audio to a soundbar because HDMI can pass higher-resolution audio.

Is it true that the channel storage has been REDUCED from 1 GB to 512 MB compared to the 2016 Ultra (model 4640)? Why would Roku do this? If so, since the CPU seems unchanged, the RAM seems unchanged, and the optical out port is deleted -- are you actually getting LESS with the new model? If that is the case, might it be better to get the 2016 Ultra (4640) at a price that can be found cheaper in the marketplace? Does the newest model address any of the production run issues that might have affected the first Ultra? I have not pulled the trigger yet. I want to read more online reviews of the 2017 model. Any thoughts?

Based on that data the 2017 model is just a less expensive(half the channel storage and no optical output) version of the 2016 model. One could say the the 2017 fits just below the 2016 when ranking the models for performance and features.

This would be more amperage than what's bundled with the 4K Stick+. Doesn't make sense, why not use the same USB power supply SKU for both models, or if not why bundle the smaller power supply with the 4K model?
